I guess I'm an old timer that still calls it Nickel Plate railroad. I lived by the tracks in S. Whitley back before N&W took over. Dad was on a section crew for a little while, uncle Bob was a brakeman, great uncle Tom was a passenger conductor and later on freight trains after passenger service ended. Tom Jr was an engineer. Uncle Tom was often in the caboose on coal trains headed to Ft Wayne. Sometimes he would tape comic bopks around a fusee for some weight and toss them into our back yard on the way. I got the cufflinks from his passenger uniform when he died. They never lost their shine.😊

Did you make the video for this? I was gifted one for Christmas, but instructions are not in english.
@chriscummings42069 күн бұрын
I'll need to find another one for the video and build it, but the first one I built was trial and error. It's not a fun build but the experience is good for someone who likes something different than LEGO sets. I'd like to find just parts this size and build whatever.
@chriscummings42069 күн бұрын
Challenge to build with Nano blocks excepted. I found some parts packages on Walmart dot com and will get those in a few weeks.

Lego prices are out of this world they are so high. It’s worse at third party dealers usually.

At 4:28 there are 2 blue eight axle heavy flatcars. I haven't researched who owns them yet and I didn't see any reporting marks. They kinda took me by surprise.

Can you post a video on how to build this
@chriscummings420610 ай бұрын
Yes. But, it is not as detailed as I originally wanted. A person would need to build a frame and working drivetrain for it.

This reminds me of when my dad takes me and my siblings to Walmart and we got to get presents for each other for Christmas, (we used their towels to cover our buggy's so we wouldn't see what we were getting) and we all LOVE legos, so we take turns in this beautiful aisle.

So, if Lego track has a 6 stud spacing it would be close to 5 studs from inside rail to inside rail. Thus, if standard gauge is 4'=8 1/2" with a loading gauge of 10'-6", Lego trains ought to be about 10 or 11 studs wide to be in the correct scale for the track.
@chriscummings42062 жыл бұрын
Correct! Though I did put some plates together in the 70 stud or so length of an EMD tunnel motor it was incredibly big and I can’t imagine (well I could dream) trying to build that much LEGO train layout to support operation of such a monster!
