What if we have many nested folders inside document drive and we want to copy all files to our azure data lake storage using ADF and maintaining the same hierarchy there also.

Thank you for the great video! How is Syncing different from Replication?
@SQLTalk6 ай бұрын
This sync is based on SQL Server triggers and not ideal for large workloads. Transactional Replication is for larger databases and tables and is based on an initial Bulk Copy (BCP) for the snapshot load and then on stored procedures to keep the tables up to date.

I didn't install the Integration Runtime on this one since my SQL Server backup files were located in an Azure storage account. See minute 11:25. Thank you for your comment.

Hi, in your another video, where destination DB was Azure MI....you didnt install Ms Integration Runtime and here you install that. May i know the reason? and whats its use and benefit?
@SQLTalk6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. In this video I had my backups on the network share so I needed the Integration Runtime (IR). In the other video I most likely had the backups on an Azure storage account, so I didn't need the Integration Runtime. Thanks!

Yes sir! The agent should be installed on the on-prem or cloud VM or bare metal SQL instance.

6 years later and it's non-intuitive that the dataset is created at the beginning of creating a PowerBI report and nowhere else. I don't see options for adding existing SQL tables to a dataset in paginated reports. Anyway, I watched 10+ other videos and this is the only one that actually showed BOTH creating the gateway AND creating a report. That was very helpful so thank you.

One question strikes me, What if we use DMA for Assessment and DMS for Migration/cutover......So what would be better migration.........Data Studio with DMS or DMA with DMS?????Any points...
@SQLTalk Жыл бұрын
DMS should be used if your destination is Azure SQL DB. ADS supports Azure SQL MI and SQL VM's as a target and is the preferred method. I assume that Azure SQL DB as a target option will be added to ADS. The ADS migration you set up will show up in DMS (think of it as DMS v2) and you can monitor all your ADS migrations centrally in Azure DMS. DMA UI and command line can still be used but it doesn't have the SKU recommendation feature.
@MuhammadWaqas-gr4gg Жыл бұрын
@@SQLTalk Brother i have checked in Azure Migrate as well as in DMS, Target DB can also be Azure MI apart from Azure SQL...
@SQLTalk Жыл бұрын
@@MuhammadWaqas-gr4gg correct Azure Migrate supports all three target types, Azure SQL DB, SQL MI and SQL on a VM. However, if your target is not going to be Azure SQL DB then you may prefer the experience of Azure Data Studio (ADS) with SQL Migration Extension. You can do everything from ADS, assess the source for compatibility with Azure SQL, get a sku recommendation for Azure SQL and do the on or offline migration.
@MuhammadWaqas-gr4gg Жыл бұрын

Hello, nice video...So we will also need VPN connection for this setup???? Secondly Data Studio will be installed on every on-premise SQL Server???? What if the SQL servers/DBs are in VMware setup????Same method will be applied???? PLz reply.
@SQLTalk Жыл бұрын
If the destination DB doesn't have a public IP you will at least need a Point to site VPN. Azure Data Studio does not have to be installed on any SQL Server. You can run it from your client or maybe a central server in your destination environment. Yes, you can use ADS to point to SQL on VMWare. For migrating many SQL Servers on VMware you may want to use Azure Migrate.

Thanks for the great topic. It would be appreciated if you could help me with the following question: Is it possible to create a pipeline that Azure Data Factory scan parse the PDF file stored in Azure Blob Storage, and send the parse result (text content) to the Elasticsearch on Azure? Also, I searched and did not find, for parsing PDF files, doe Azure Data Factory support OCR? Thanks
