Thank you sir. I have a copy. The first time I skimmed through it I was like "aw man I'm not going to make it through this book 😂" But you gave a good digest. I might start right away.

Good advice to look after company assets no matter the role. Do you want to be known as the guy who mistreats the company assets which will cost them money? Or the guy who looks after the company assets which will save them money?

And yet I thought the whole idea of an apprenticeship was to be taught "on the job" to gain experience in real world experiences. TAFE & the like only deal with theory, not practice!!

Switching instructions are THE MOST CRITICAL. The instructions need to be reviewed with an up to date single line diagram before anyone proceeds. Of course there are instances and emergencies where single lines and instructions aren’t available and that’s where communication is paramount. Reading back the cubicle and switch number to the switching director, speaking clearly and touching the label, voicing loudly prior to operating. But most of all, people make mistakes. An operator has a duty to understand and revise their work before carrying it out. If it’s not clear DON’T DO IT! There is an uncomfortably strong chance that if you get it wrong you won’t exist anymore. Great video on roles, life preservation and safety.

Good initiative with the name change, so many supervisors who issue out work orders for HV maintenance have no understanding of the HV roles and responsibilities. Sadly they treat it like flicking a light switch.

I'm a third year apprentice, and I agree with you entirely. Actually, I just decided today I should stop watching cat videos in my spare time, and watch electrical videos - that's how a found your channel. And I will take to heart what you say about arriving at TAFE prepared, thank you. Too often I find I've forgotten some prerequisite knowledge when I'm back in the classroom.

Awesome video, I remember my tafe teacher telling us this one, I've been doing Industrial for the last 11 years and currently I am finally obtaining my Electrical license , I understand how the wiring rules is written but they said I will be tested the AS3000. From memory our test had a load of finding clauses, reckon thats what fair trading will test on? or more compliance/testing clauses ?
