@vigenel I got a message from you but not reply link from KZbin... so here it is out of the blue. The Sketchup model should be available in the link, however, if you are no adict (sketchup) I can send you the dimensions. It's a puzzle that's thickness governs the cut outs, so you would need to provide the thickness you are contemplating to cut it from. If you don't know Sketchup, contact me at "[email protected]" and I can give it to you in your preferred thickness... oh by that I mean the measurements.

its the common problem with SS and soft material when rotating without lube it picks up a shard of metal and scores the bore of the softer material and the shaft as well sometimes.

Would adding another extension tank make this work better with a spray gun?
@alexkara9696
@alexkara9696 3 ай бұрын
Hi Andy... certainly not spraying fodder. Even a much bigger compressor struggles with spraying. This is definitely a low volume job (as opposed to air flow) item that is ideal for small dispenses of fair pressure air and portability.

Sorry to hear that. It’s a good idea. The cast iron is too soft for the stress of the drill modification. You could attach a plate with a hardened bushing to prevent the elongation. You have an extra part to work with so maybe you can figure something out.
@alexkara9696
@alexkara9696 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the heads up. I'm just a hack woodie with bugger all metalurgy knowledge. I never dreamt that cast could be so "easily" distorted. I think it was due to not having the shaft parallel with the spindle and not securing it properly... letting it "vibrate" in an oval path. I've since replaced the lifting handle (crank) with a wheel u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZX43R0ZzC6cmFW1Mo0xPpI1VvbzPkQhFs8V and that should be sufficient for me.

@alexkara9696
@alexkara9696 6 ай бұрын
Hi Ftd. Not sure what scale it is in but it certainly not HO. The full length of the Reading in the forefront, including all the rolling stock, minus the tracks, is about 1.9m. The engine-tender is 88.3cm. If you are familiar with Sketchup, the model can be viewed/downloaded from the 3D Warehouse, 3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/ef232dd9-9cfa-4da9-a1ee-0bb0ed5827be/Trains Just click on the picture, and you can navigate the model through the scenes (Views), rotate the model, zoom in. There is a free version of Sketchup which could permit you to globally resize it to HO scale.

Hi Alex. Totally fascinated with your work! Having reached retirement had planned to design puzzle boxes but have no PC or 3D CNC knowledge. Old school eye hand adjustment only. Is all your work done by laser? I was looking into 3D routing but you might have altered my train of thought. I would very interested on your opinion on this. Many thanks
@alexkara9696
@alexkara9696 7 ай бұрын
Hi gp. Most of my work (puzzles) are done by laser, not so much that they cannot be done using traditional tools, but I find that the laser is quick, 100% accurate and totally repeatable. I don't sell any of my stuff, so spending hours/days on a puzzle would be unproductive as a give away (especially to strangers). A lot of my puzzles have been plagiarised from standard timber versions and often reverse engineered. This one, kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqCtnHWbr9mMeZo I bought the plans off Woodsmith, www.woodsmithplans.com/plan/clever-puzzle-boxes/ which was design to be made out of solids and I reverse engineered it, imported it into SketchUp and laser cut it... so it's not beyond anyone without a laser/CNC to do. If you really want to go down the path of puzzle boxes, a chap called Kel Snake on the Craftisian forum specialises in them, craftisian.com/KelSnake craftisian.com/KelSnake/projects I haven't seen him on the site for a few months, however, he might be able to give more info... though I believe he sells his products, so trade secrets may be an issue. You might need to join the site and PM him through internally. I do 99% of my work through Sketchup and CorelDraw (before laser/workshop duties), however, if you need any further info, you can contact me at, [email protected] and hope you make it through my spam filters. Good luck and enjoy your retirement... life is just starting.

@alexkara9696
@alexkara9696 7 ай бұрын
Unfortunately you are one garbage cycle collection too late... I have thrown away all the packaging last week and I chose my items by sight and not by part number. However, giving part numbers may be an issue as different stores supply different brands and the combination is limitless. Basically the buzz word is 'Nitto 1/4" BSP' fittings if you choose Nitto and 1/4". There are many different types of connectors depending on your global location. I use Nitto on my compressor and air supply in the workshop so it's Nitto for me. I chose 1/4" as the tubing I use is 1/4" (or 6mm and a heat gun to fit the 6mm over 1/4" bayonet fittings). Choosing what piggy backss what is just careful planning as the part you may need to perform a particular function may need to be combined by two different parts... either because of your requirement or unavailability of that specific part. Good luck... I'm just a noob so if I could make it work anyone can... just plan and chose your parts carefully to avoid unnecessary expenditure and left overs. Just shop around... prices can vary dramatically between suppliers. In Australia I found "Enzed" had better prices for most parts... but then again I said most parts.

Have you considered rotating drill motor CCW and resting battery pack on top of drill bed clamping might almost be single handed?
@alexkara9696

Thanks for the suggestion @orb' haven't even thought of that, however, jst thinking (before actual trying), resting "on the table" might interfere with the fence and/or the various attachments I have for it... still will consider before customising.

well done Alex, I have sanded my fingers and nails a few times on my sanding gear but never attempted to sand my face. The process of sanding and polishing is something I enjoy doing with my wood, as you are possibly aware I work with hardwood most of the time. Well at least if polishing is considered that is. When I was at Crows next I smuggled a piece of She Oak home to make drink coasters with. I am currently working with them to replicate something similar but however in wood.

Sanding my face gets rid of a few (many) wrinkles. With my sillyarse face... Buffing is a great way of cleaning up wood and metal, however, few think about acrylics... hopefully I can impart that knowledge to some and the speed at which it can be achieved. You didn't provide a link for your shop apron and safety footwear! 🤣 $180 for that Parf system steep but might be worth it, material and time ain't cheap anymore. I'm floating the idea of making some kind of a multi Dremel Tool Station consisting of their cheesy drill press, their surprisingly not bad mini router and surprisingly well performing scroll saw with a ryobi cordless vac and flexshaft rotary tool

Unfortunately the shop apron is dead... has been laid to rest and replaced, craftisian.com/projects/12622-changing-of-the-guard-or-end-of-an-era the safety footwear is being modified by not trimming toenails. The Dremel has some good uses.... The UJK PARD fas a fair investment, however, I use it extensively to mount other machines using the TSO Lock Dogs, tsoproducts.com/bench-dogs/tso-dogs/power-loc-bench-connector-dogs/ They're not cheap either, but to me time is my most precious commodity and anything that can save me time is worth every shekel.
