If Methane is produced at depth and in the presence of water, it will dissove into the water creating a methane ice or Clathrate. In earth, it needs a few hundreds of metres of depth for the pressure to be high enough to form a clathrate. However, if it rises from a source such as deeper carboniferous deposits (shale, oil, coal for instance) and hits a permafrost ceiling (like a pressure cooker lid) at shallower depths, a clathrate can also form as the accumulating gas increases the pressure. If the permafrost begins to melt and release the pressure on the accumulated clathrate, the methane will come out of solution. When the pressure gets high enough it can blow out.

Phony. From the beginning and at the end of the video, the author keeps showing footage of another city. Through the video, he has to focus on a body of water outside of Thunder Bay, and then bush country again outside of the City of Thunder Bay. Even the Terry Fox tribute was outside of the City of Thunder Bay. His only actual footage of the City itself is indoors at the City Museum and at a City Brewing Company by showing some folks enjoying a brew. He mentions food and restaurants but does not identify any by name or actual footage. He again jumps outside the City to Thunder Oak cheese farms. The best things he pointed out about the City are that a few small scale Mom and Pop operations exist outside of the City. The robotic voice was clearly annoying. This video is extremely deceptive. The truth about Thunder Bay is it is murder town and a gang and drug infested town. Drug addicts and drunks line all the cores at all hours when it is not an abandoned looking city. You will also notice multiple tent cities in the town despite the extremely cold winter temperatures. The taxi business picks up on Welfare day. The rest of the month they are out sniffing lysol awaiting the next month cheque. The province does nothing to help the city. No tourist in their right mind would want to stop here unless they are deceived by goofy videos such as this one.

The city was named in honor of King Louis XVI of France. The proper pronunciation is Louie-ville. Although there is a lot of debate along those lines depending on your accent….but it is most definitely NOT pronounced Lewis-ville….
