The "bumps" are called burls. They mostly form from an injury to the cambium layer of the tree.

They can use Oxalate Acid to Brighten the Teak up, before making it into furniture. Also they can get wood for Shower Stools and for End Tables.

Beautiful results for sure but this operator makes me nervous and he wears no goggles or any othet protective gear. OSHA would get a real kick out of this I suspect…
