Have you tested Spyderco Seki City K390 (Police 4, Stretch 2, Endula, Endera, Delica) since this video was made. I'm hearing Seki City K390 is the best.

I have an old run cruwear Manix that I slapped some micarta scales on…it’s definitely in my top three most valued crucartas. But I think k390 has really proven itself since this video was made. I own a bunch of the seki k390 models (still waiting on a stretch 2xl) and they’ve been incredible…for years on end. K390 is awesome in the sense that it’s got great edge stability, holds its initial sharpness, holds its edge nicely, settles into a working edge predictably and for a 10v class steel, it ages *really* well. My oldest k390 lock back is an endela I bought as soon as they released and it just has a bit of a blue/amber hue in certain lighting. It’s just a phenomenal steel from my experience. Spyderco’s 15v has the potential to be a user steel of that caliber…even usurp it from what I’ve experienced…but unfortunately, I think it will be too limited to propagate in the same way.

I have a Manly Patriot in D2 steel, which I found and ordered on eBay receiving it July of this year (2023). Its 15° factory edge is truly amazing. The 6 stitches I got on August 17th after an apple cutting mishap can attest to this. I almost waited too long to buy the knife, finally pulling the trigger after a month or so of internal debate. I liked it so much that I immediately tried to purchase another one (possibly 2 or 3 more even) to no avail. They are almost impossible to find. The D2 version cost me around $60, and the version CPM-154 is currently listing for a low of $183 to a high of $263. Currently, the CPM-154 is a little too expensive for me. I did get very excited in just the past few days when I found a larger model called the Crafter, and then today found that Manly made an even larger one called the Eagle. My quest now is to pick up at least one more Patriot and a couple each of the Crafter and Eagle. Since I've found these, no other knife will do for my fixed blade EDC. The Patriot is a perfect fit, especially with the superb jimping that locks your hand in place. I'm sure that the larger two models are even better. With a wish to live to at least 80 years of age, this many Manly knives should last me for the next 23 years until I hit 80, lol. Now, I just need to find a great heavy-duty friction sheath or three (some call it a drop sheath), and I'll be set. Thanks for the great presentation, I'm sorry that I just now saw it three years after it was made.

Thank you so much brother you gave a whole heap of extremely useful information/techniques regarding knife steel and the most sharpest ( as in holding its edge for the longest ) favourite steel (maxamet) then the rest of the steels in order. You saved me a whole weeks worth of shopping around as I don’t like to just order something online purely because I don’t get a feel of what I’m purchasing. This would have taken at least a week or so for me to figure out but now I feel like I can just order it and know exactly what to expect in the mail. Saying goes as “time is money” which makes me feel horrible because I can’t return you the favour via a generous amount of a super thank you. Wishing you all the best of luck in your journey. Personally I disagree with those you mentioned saying "more blue!" I think it's such a strong color against the darker brass and you've captured that contrast perfectly here. WOW those are some beautiful scales, excellent work!!

I have big hands but I think as a defense knife the smaller one is easier to conceal and also use effectively and also carrying it everyday would be easier..
