@@sanfranciscobrassband I have a question, and I do apologize if it sounds dumb, the basses , are they suppose to be in bass clef, or is that how they have it in the British brass band instrumentation scoring?

@@crazyhornguy1112 the basses are traditionally written in Treble Clef and this practice dates back to when the bands first formed. Coal miners were uneducated and needed the ability to switch between instrument families easily. So every instrument is written in Treble Clef except Bass Trombone as that instrument was originally pitched in G. It allows all instruments to use “Trumpet” fingerings, regardless of the instrument pitch. It’s a dated practice for the basses and we find we have to manually write C bass clef parts when we have tuba substitutes.
