Is there a fixed psi your tank should be at?
@realhouseDIYКүн бұрын
There should be a pre-charge listed on it. That is the pressure to charge to before installation or when there is no water pressure pushing against it. Otherwise, the pressure will typically read a little higher because of water pressure also pushing.
@Vyce6113 күн бұрын
how much PSI did you pump?
@realhouseDIY3 күн бұрын
This way you can't really judge based on psi. There are other variables vs the standard way with just an empty tank. It really shouldn't lose much air over time, so I only pumped a couple times. Open the beverage faucet while pumping to make it easier.

So its normal to have some small leakage every now and again. I use my fireplace a lot soca lot of times its too hot inside for a call for heat. So when it cools enough and i put the heat on i get seepage. Maybe a cup or 2 of water. Brand new valve. Expansion tank is about 6-7 years old (time to replce). Pressure creeps up to 30 psi on the boiler. So is it normal to have some leakage?
@realhouseDIY3 күн бұрын
Close to 30 psi, then the valve is doing it's job. But pressure typically shouldn't go above low 20s. Might be the expansion tank.

@realhouseDIY oh yeah I went to check air pressure on the Expansion tank and water leaked out! Turns out it was full of water! I realized all this at 3am Christmas Eve morning! Hahahaha! Thank Gid the local hardware store was open at 7am and I went and got a new tank, swapped it out and it's all fixed! Seems this tank was bad for a while and I didn't know. My fault, I moved in here in early 2023 and I just assumed the tank was good. It was installed in Nov 2018. From here on put ill check it once a year. Oh and it weighed a ton. Its a foot over my head, it reminded me once I had to pull a full gas tank out of an 88 Fox Body up on a lift above my head. You get the picture! It was famn heavy.!! Next time I'll pop out the shader valve and drain it. Tha is for your awesome videos! Great help!

My hydronic boiler when working is at 30 psi, is it because the pressure relief valve is also set at 30psi? Most hvac guys would say it should be running at 15/20 psi.
@realhouseDIY4 күн бұрын
I can't speak for all of them, but yes 15/20 most likely. If the pressure relief valve is letting out a lot of water, then I'd look into it more.

@@cancerking9416 possibly the gauge reading high if the relief valve isn't letting out water. More likely the expansion tank though.

I have the same expansion tank shown in your video. The tank does not have water in the lower part of the tank. when pressing the valve, only air comes out, no sign of water escaping anywhere. My question is: if the pressure gage starts at 15 PSI but, after the burner runs for 30 minutes, the expansion tank gage reads 30 PSI, is this a problem?
@realhouseDIY10 күн бұрын
30 psi is getting too high. Is the relief valve leaking water at that time? If no, the gauge could be reading a bit high. If yes, then the pressure actually is that high and most likely the expansion tank.

@@realhouseDIY Plumber came last night. Found the air stem at the bottom of the tank was slightly leaking air, which allowed the tank to contain too much water. A residential hot water boiler system should be low pressure, not house/city water supply pressure. The boiler system only needs low pressure to operate.

thanks for the video. I was able to replace the gasket. However, how do I diagnose the issue if the washer starts dripping water?
@realhouseDIY17 күн бұрын
Dripping at the door would be an issue with the front spring clamp. Dripping underneath near the front is either the gasket drain connection or the inner spring. I would probably take the outer spring off and look under the gasket.
@SamHong-j2i16 күн бұрын
@ thank you! had a pro look at it and turns out it was the inner spring that became too loose bc I decided to undo a loop to give myself a bit more slack. I do not want to go through the inner spring pain again, so happy to pay $149 to get it fixed ($35 new inner spring included). He installed a new inner spring that you can just screw in instead of fighting for your life. @realhouseDIY18 күн бұрын
Check gaskets near the boiler. Also possible drips running down from pipes going straight up. Is there an air vent on the boiler? Those can leak easily. If there are any panels that come off easily, can see if the boiler itself is leaking.

I have a B3030 with a 60” bucket, and I have a front mount snowblower that’s currently under repair. Clearing mine and my dad’s driveways with the loader is seeming to be extremely time consuming, because you really don’t have any ability to “direct” the snow anywhere. Just did 10-12” of fresh light snow this morning and it leaves stripes everywhere because it’s only pushing ahead and falling over the edges. I can see it working well with 3-4” of heavier snow that the bucket can contain though. Good video.

Right, need to either take smaller passes or clean up the stripes for most types of snow. And yes mostly need to plan straight pushes, or push then lift a bit to turn.

Operating pressure should be listed on a nameplate. Or what is the prv's psi rating? High pressure could be the regulating valve that is supposed to dial down the input water pressure from the city supply, or the expansion tank not working.
