Courtney came in 6th on AGT season 13 in 2018. She also performed in AGT Live at the Paris hotel in Las Vegas where she did 5 shows of two sets of two songs. Unfortunately Max Martin has not agreed to let Courtney release ' Pretty Little Thing '. I suspect AGT technically owns the song and its expected to be a hit .... In any event its been buried for 6 Years now.

Thanks, again, for the Courtney reactions! Though she made it to the finals, she didn't win. She built a great following of fans during her AGT run. However, there were also some haters who poked fun of the way she danced, the way she sang, her shyness when not performing, etc. It's sad that some bullies and their lemming followers all decided to be a-holes toward young Courtney for being different. I think "different" is what makes the world so cool and Courtz certainly makes this world waaaaaay cooler! 😎🎵💯 Btw, LOVED that you reacted to all of her AGT / AGT Champions performances at once! When she was still 14, she recorded her first EP album which included 4-covers. She called the album "Cover Sessions". If you don't mind doing something similar to what you did with her AGT performances, react to all 4-songs from her "Cover Sessions" album in one video, that'd be awesome! The context for the Carnegie Hall performance: it was at the New York Pops 41st Birthday Gala, in April 2024, and the guest of honor was recording industry legend Clive Davis. Davis headed Columbia Records and then founded Arista Records, and signed a number of huge stars to recording contracts -- many of whom were invited to perform at the gala, such as Dionne Warwick, Barry Manilow, Santana. A number of stars were signed to their FIRST contracts by Davis, and he gets credit for "discovering" them -- Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, others. His very first discovery was Janis Joplin, in 1967. Janis died in 1970, so obviously she couldn't perform at the gala. The organizers had been going to invite Miley Cyrus to do a Janis Joplin song, but Davis remembered Courtney from AGT, how her voice a style were so much like Janis, so he told them he wanted Courtney to represent Janis. Davis himself personally called Courtney on the phone, in England, and asked her if she'd be willing to perform a Janis Joplin song at Carnegie Hall. And so here is Courtney, opening this big all-star concert in New York. She got a standing ovation at the end.

Pretty Little Things wasn't written by Courtney, but she did have some say on its lyrics but she was over ruled on many of her choices for the song. It wasn't written the way she wanted it to be written and found co-writing quite uncomfortable. Then she met Kevin Bowe, and he taught her how to write correctly and how to style the music. She had these talents already but hadn't got the guidance she needed at such a young age until she met Kevin. She stayed at his home to record her album and he is on record saying how hard she works. There is an interview with him explaining how he came to know about Courtney. Courtney deserves extra praise for her Las Vegas shows because during her time there, she was quite ill and her throat was causing her pain and that is why she toured the audience at her shows. She left the stage quite quickly after her performances and a doctor was on call to aid her. She stated that at an evening meal with the other stars, her dad had to carry her to her bedroom in the hotel because she was all but out. Courtney, more than any other artist I have heard over many years, can capture the soul of a song and that soul embodies her while she is performing . She truly is a once in a century person. Not just her vocals but her personality, which is evident in many interviews. Her appreciation of life and her family. A real, human being. Miley Cyrus was wanted by the producers of the tribute to Clive Davis but having heard about Courtney, from Simon and Howie Mandel, about Courtney's performance on A.G.T, he insisted on her for the Janis Joplin cover and personally invited Courtney to appear and open the show. She received a standing ovation. The Carnage Hall show was recorded by video but for whatever reason they haven't released a full version of the concert. Sad, really, considering it was a charity event. Thank you so much for your reactions, your voice is really calming. From Chris.

Understood, about Courtney having pretty minimal input into the writing of "Pretty Little Thing." On the other hand, she said in a 2023 interview that she'd like to try to work it into her tour concerts. I guess she'd have to work that out with Max Martin, but she doesn't hate the song.

@@Daniel-un5mp I think the way she put it was she'd love to get her hands on Pretty Little Thing, definitely doesn't hate it! It's still her song really, like any song that's written specifically for an artist and they introduce it.
@Daniel-un5mp14 сағат бұрын
@@prakaklef It is actually possible that Courtney may have the legal rights to the song -- possibly Simon may have arranged for that. I have no actual information on the copyright, but I think it may belong to her. My evidence: Smule, the smartphone karaoke app, has a database of 14 million songs. That includes "Pretty Little Thing" -- you can get Smule on your phone and use it to get an instrumental version of "Pretty Little Thing" and the lyrics. And on the download page for "Pretty Little Thing," it says "Music & Lyrics: Courtney Hadwin." We know that is not actually the case, but the thing is, Smule is required by law to determine who (if anyone) owns the rights to a song and get permission from them to put a song in its database. And in crediting Courtney with the music and lyrics, I think that means she has the copyright. And yes, I could be wrong.

Great reaction to the Carnegie Hall performance, and also great reactions to her first original song Pretty Little Thing (I was going to suggest that one next, but you bet me to the punch, LOL). The reason why there is a break in sound quality through the middle of the performance at Carnegie Hall, is because they were two different videos edited together. The "official" video dropped off her introduction, and the last verse, and it was all one cut, and a fan-with-camera phone from the bleachers got the whole performance, but with poorer quality sound. There is another "Supercut" edit of the performance, it is called 'Courtney Hadwin - Carnegie Hall Journey with "Piece Of My Heart" full performance 27-29 April, 2024'. You should seriously check it out. It starts with segments of interviews from Clive Davis & Kevin Bowne, then into the performance, with much crisper editing. For a long time my favourite performance from her was well before she was on AGT. She did a cover of the David Guetta/Sia song 'Titanium'. She did it several times, at least three different times, and they are all still available here on KZbin, but the sound quality is not professional on any of them, and I do not recommend the one at Jax Bar, the audience is just too loud. I have another suggestion for you, on Friday her Monsters song, which you've already reacted too, her live version from Metropolis studios will be dropped, the last in the set of her 2023 releases. You should do a reaction of the official videos, then to the Metropolis live videos, and compare the differences. Just a thought.
@prakaklefКүн бұрын
That IS a thought. Nobody has done that. Breakable has 3 versions, the official version accompanied by the official video, the "Live acoustic" version, just Courtney and her guitar, and last but not least, Live at Metropolis. Love your reactions, thank you for this! It can be difficult doing reactions to Pretty Little Thing. The AGT Champions version of course you run the risk of copyright problems, and finding a good version of a Las Vegas performance has multiple problems. It's not on Spotify because Courtney Hadwin doesn't own the rights. Any claim she might have had she probably renounced when she clarified that Max Martin wrote it. I think the plan was for them to write it together, but Courtney has said several times Kevin Bowe is the first cowriter she's had who doesn't just take over. She goes so far as to say Kevin Bowe made her really write for the first time, but now it comes naturally. The Courtney Hadwin Journey channel has a better version of Courtney's Carnegie Hall appearance. They not only evened out the sound levels quite a bit, but included clips from interviews and the cast on stage with Dionne Warwick singing That's What Friends Are For in the finale: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l17PaZeefsyiepIsi=oZso9sI_MYKawKUY The folks who made Courtney's complete performance being recorded possible will probably be along to tell the tale. The New York Pops, who own the official recording only released a trimmed down version, about a minute short. Thank you again and enjoy the rest of your day!

Courtney released a total of six original songs during 2023-24, and starting this past October she started releasing (every few weeks) videos of herself and her (new) band performing the six songs live at Metropolis Studios in London. You've done reactions to a couple of those ("That Girl Don't Live Here" and "Call Me Back"). On Friday, Jan 24, she's doing the last of the six: "Monsters." This is all meant to give her fans something while we're waiting for her new album, coming out this spring.
@Daniel-un5mp2 күн бұрын
The heart of the song comes at that moment you pointed out where it "changes tone": what had been a self-absorbed lament about personal demons suddenly becomes a call for human outreach: "Gotta hear each other when we're cryin' for help Gotta save each other if we're gonna save ourselves If you look inside we're all the same Everybody's tryna keep the monsters away." When an interviewer in 2023 asked her about the song, and asked whether she'd be willing to talk about what sort of monsters she had in her personal life, she said the song wasn't meant to be about herself specifically, it was really a recognition that everyone has monsters inside, and we all need to help each other deal with them.

Thanks for all the reactions to Courtney beautiful lady. Since you've been doing such an amazing job at reacting to Courtney I'm now a subscriber for life and can't wait to check out some of your other reactions. Now let me say something about Courtney, I've been following Courtney ever since she was 11 years old. When I happened to come across her I was completely blown away and left in shock at how good this 11 year old vocals were. I started looking for everything about her and was even more shocked with every video. Courtney has worked her little ass off from a very young age to get where she is now. From singing on the streets to earn money to pay for her vocal lessons at age ten. Singing in every competition and open mike she could find to hone her skills to perfection. Even now she's such a perfectionist at 20 years old she'll lay down 20 or more tracks of just the course so she can pick the right sound that's true to her. Record labels didn't know what to do with her because she wouldn't give in to their bullshit and be something she isn't. That's one thing about Courtney, she's not going to be no one but herself and it's been that way since she was a very tiny girl. I've been in the music industry since the early 70s and I've played with or for all the great band's and artist from the 70s up. I know a lot of artists that are known the world over and a couple of years ago I was showing them some videos of Courtney after a show one night here in Atlanta, there was somewhere around 15 well known artist looking at Courtney's videos in disbelief yelling at one another hey look at this one. When you have well known artist that been preforming since the 70s in shock and left speak less you know that person has something special. Sorry for being a little long winded here but I do have a tendency to get excited about Courtney, being in music all my life and being able to perform in front of hundreds of thousands of people in my life is what I'm wanting Courtney to have the chance to feel how amazing it is. Hope to see you in the next Courtney reaction. Love and peace to you

@Sharki_V I've seen quite a lot of reactions and they are all good and positive. There are some that say nasty things but they would say nasty things about anyone. Courtney is only 20 and she was scheduled to sing at Woodstock but it got canceled then Simon sold his company and her contract was taken over by another label but they wanted to make her into another type of singer and simply did not allow her to sing any of her own music. She had written countless originals, many she has shared small bits of online. She got with Kevin Bowe, after he was contacted by her manager at the new label because Courtney was too shy to write with anyone but he guided her to becoming independent after they had co wrote some songs and the label just didn't release them. When she was 14, she covered Old Town Road, Sucker For You, and a Harry Styles song, Sign Of The Times. She also recorded a John Lennon song, a Christmas Song. All of the reviews of those songs have said she sang them better than the original artist. You can check them out for yourself and decide if you agree. Incidentally, i love your hair and so far you are the best reviewer I've seen. Thank you. You're calm and your narratives are so relaxing to hear. From Chris.

I one hundred and ten thousand percent agree with you, she does need protection. The way that she can emote through the music, and make you feel what the song is about, is truly remarkable. There are only a handful of singers I could think about who could do this. Elvis Presley, Meatloaf, Celine Dion, Mark Knopfler... possibly a few others too, but none other in this generation. Other modern singers have some incredibly emotional music videos, but the emotion in their delivery is just not there. It is just soulless pop, no substance. The music video for Lewis Capaldi's Wish You The Best (I have to look it up everytime I reference it, because I cannot even remember the title of it), has a very forgettable song. There is just no emotional impact in the delivery, I cannot even remember the melody or lyrics. But the video itself is burnt into my memory. The same thing goes for Harry Styles Satellite video, memorable video, forgettable song. I wouldn't even know them on the radio, without the video to go along with it. ... but not so with Courtney. Her voice, her emotional maturity, the very soul she puts into each performance. It's breathtaking. She could sing the dullest text available, and breath new life into it. After her time on AGT, especially after her audition, she went viral. Then she was signed, new owners took over trying to change her, COVID happened, other events... a lot of people lost interest. But in 2023 she became independent, released a handful of songs she wrote with Kevin Bowe, hired a band, working on her album, in February or March of 2025, her debut album will drop. A lot more people need to know of this, she is a true once in a generational artist, who was born for the big stage.

You are right to say the nice comments you have made about Courtney. I've always been a fan of many genres and there have been many songs that have got my interest but with Courtney, it feels like she is talking to me, directly! When a song is written, they are sung by a singer and that songs success is relevant to other elements but Courtney doesn't need any other element but herself. She brings those written words to life! Her live performances are like watching a movie, where the story takes you along and makes you feel like she is telling you about how she is feeling. A live performance of Monsters is due to be realised this Friday. Also, check out her performance at Carnegie hall, with a live orchestra . The video quality isn't great but there are at least 2 versions. From Chris.

Thanks, again, Sharki_V, nice reaction! I can see that you really get her . . . The goosebumps when she hits those raspy moments, understanding that one doesn't just "listen" to Courtney's tunes, one also "feels" her music. The emotion with which she sings is not very common nowadays, but very welcome after listening to too many modern-day artists lacking passion in their music. Yeah, she released her first 5-originals in 2023, including this "Call Me Back", "The Girl Don't Live Here" and "Monsters", to which you've already reacted, and then recorded them as live versions at the Metropolis Studios in London in 2024. Now that you've heard a few of her originals, it's probably a good time to travel back to when she went uber-viral on AGT when she was ONLY 13!!!! She had already been singing for years in competitions / festivals, but her AGT performance became one of the most viral in the show's history. She performed "Hard To Handle" a 60's Otis Redding song, popularized by rock band, Black Crowes, in the 90's. This is the performance when viewers realize how reserved and shy she was when not performing, and how a switch is flipped as soon as the music begins. The original music video for this song, from 2023, has been viewed nearly 2 million times on KZbin. Courtney is putting out an album of new songs this year. The first single, "Spellbound," from the album will be out on Feb 21. After the album comes out she's going on tour, with her band. Her career was held up for years by her record label wanting her to be something she no longer was -- that 13-year-old from AGT. (That is actually what this song is about.) Now that she's out of her contract and independent, her career is starting to take off.

The monsters are most certainly do represent her personality traits, and for each one of us, they will be different entities, but she has confirmed with others what I am about to write would describe the monsters that are shown on screen... The monsters that represent her near the end of the video, or, her personality traits are from left to right near the end of the video. 1. Girl with a soft toy: This is her anxiety, her shyness, her inner child, the tormented one. 2. The Clown: This is her goofinessm her silliness, her sense of humour. 3. Girl with a phone in her hand: Her social media addiction, looking for positive messages among the cyberbullies. 4. Herself 5. The Rocker: Her talent, both a gift and a curse. 6. The grey-haired entity: Her dark desires and depression. 7. Girl with glasses and books: Her studiousness, her nerdiness, her near Encyclopedic knowledge of rock singers and their styles and genres, and her work ethic (when she was being taught to sing, she was the only student that was told to work less, and when she was writing songs with Kevin Bowe, he often found her in the studio working to perfect the songs without being prompted). And you should take a look at the official video for Breakable, a personal favourite of mine.

Thanks for the reaction, SV!! Great guesses on the different Courtney's. Since she's talking about "monsters" in her head, assume these all symbolize different voices in her head pulling her in different directions. Some good, some bad. Look forward to your next reaction of CALL ME BACK, a goose-bump-inducing ballad . . . I love this live version more than the original because she shows off more of the gritty, raspy part of her voice which still gives me chills after all of these years - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmiwY6KInNKqmtU

I saw her performing when she was 12 on a talent show. Absolutely amazing talent. I hope Ren pushes her like he did Chincilla, she deserves it.

Love your reactions! Guess what, just 13 minutes ago she posted the new Live from Metropolis studios version of Monsters with her band will be out Friday😃😈💀🤡👹👺👻🧛🧟 Allotta folks seem to wonder about the clown. First I show them this: Courtney Hadwin ㋡ Performs 'Clown' Emeli Sande INCREDIBLE!!! | 2016 EP-25 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpCbXp6egN6rjMUsi=FdHAyXEoUGFOSrNc The description on this video, posted over 6 years ago, of a performance 8 or 9 years old, could be a help interpreting this video, which is not that much older than a year. Fans that have followed her livestreams for about 7 years can tell you allot about her notorious sense of humour too🤪 Thank you for this, could say a lot more but it's morning maniac time👋😃
