I bought a Fantom 08 in January and around a dozen of my black keys started to go this way. I contacted Roland who after requesting a video of the problem, collected it, repaired and returned the keyboard within a few weeks, which I thought was great. However within another few weeks of getting it back the same issue has started to appear with 4 other black keys.The issue is in the early days and is only happening sporadically after a dozen or so repeated presses, but I know from experience they are only going to get a lot worse. I am currently in contact with Roland support who are demanding a video of it happening again, despite me telling them i will have to bash the keys unnecessarily to show the issue, and also despite them recently repairing it for the exact same problem. I did love just about every thing the Fantom 08 offered, but the 88 version keybed issue is causing me to lose confidence. I hope I just have a bad one as other than this problem it is an absolutely fantastic piece of kit.

@@paulg-k6742 thanks for the reply - very interesting. I followed a similar path to you - video of the problem, sent it away to UK distributor to fix and now returned, seemingly ok. But I’m with you in that my heart just isn’t in it and I don’t have any confidence for the long term. As you say, such a pity as it has so much going for it - I now wish I’d gone for the 07 as an upper keys and gone elsewhere for the piano feel lower keyboard. We live and learn

@@GlasgowKissTwo Hi Jamie, I couldn't believe it started happening again so soon after getting it repaired. I agree though, as much as I love it, if this trait is inherent in all 88 key Fantom 0's I will have to look at alternate models as I am not a fan of synth keys and much prefer the feel and response from an 88 weighted keybed. Trouble is what do I do with the 08? I don't have lots of disposable money so I have to put my trust in Roland which at the moment is starting to crumble.
