If that .50 is a deep grove 1:48" use a felt wad under the Lee boolit. It likes shallow grove rifling around .006"

Idk how much experience you have with the Lee R.E.A.L. conicals. Alot of people have a hard time getting them to shoot, for some reason they really like a wool wad between the powder and projectile. Its like night n day. Maybe you already know this.
@Peepsightoutdoors17 күн бұрын
I’ve cast Lee reals for my 50 cal Missouri River hawken and I found the same thing. Started using the wool wads for my 54 in the video with a prb and it’s definitely a night and day difference in accuracy

I have the 54 cal. Frontier. I like large caliber muskets. The lock is small, but reliable. The rifled barrel will need to be swabbed after about four shots. I use Goex powder, which supposed to be good quality. But fouling will happen. If you continue to shoot without swabbing the barrel every so often, You will be hard pressed to load the gun. Other than that, it is very accurate and fun the shoot. Enjoy . P.S. the Buckhorn sight is a gimmick.

What are you using for lube?
@Peepsightoutdoors17 күн бұрын
Love my 54 hawken, but that great to hear cause I was noticing later that the rifling is substantially more shallow in my frontier compared to the hawken and was curious on how it would shoot.

The bones chronographed out at 172 fps with 497 gr total weight. And the grizzly chronographed at 185 with 550gr total weight. But the bones is 50 pounds at 28 and my grizzly is 60lb at 28.

If you had to do it all over again and get ONE of either the Bear Grizzly or Shatterproof Bones, which would it be and why? Do you shoot better with one over the other? How does craftsmanship compare? Thanks for sharing!
@Peepsightoutdoors5 ай бұрын
Glad you liked the video! And in my opinion I would go with the shatter proof bones as a personal preference. The grizzly is a great shooter but is a heavier bow and has a much more chunky grip compared to the slimmer more narrow grip of the bones. I shoot great with both but a bit better with the bones and bow noise is less on release with it which I like especially for hunting. If you’re able to find a shop that can let you have a look and let you shoot a few it’ll definitely help with finding on that’ll fit you personally the best. I how this helped a little and happy shooting!
