If you're talking about the boss from the lake location, there was an invisible gnaar. And if you're talking about the one at the end of the level, it wasn't a boss, but a wave of monsters.

Just another critical bug on the map. You can ask the author of the map to fix your problem (if there is anything red in the console at this moment, link this to the message). Or use noclip or episode changer in the cheat menu.

You can use sites like steam workshop downloaders to download it manually without sam4, or subscribe on it in workshop and they will be downloaled automatically with the game itself
