2 retrds talking, if luka is not on not on the mavs, u will not get ky or klay, without the possible best nba player on the mavs klay will be a lakers by now. Luka probably dont have great relationship with us players, but the fact that luka is a superstar is what makes player like kai or klay join. Wake up npc

Klay is 6’7 and his knees are bad. He won’t be meeting anyone at the rim defensively. The reason he isn’t in death lineup for us is cause he’s not the guy he was 6 years ago. That’s why he’s on the Mavs instead of staying with the Warriors. Kyrie, Luka, Naji, PJ, Lively feels like it should be our best lineup.

@itsyoboyb63148 күн бұрын
Klay pretty famously is not big on the dribbling Kirk lol. Naji is the guy who has potential to put the ball on the deck and attack the hoop. I’m just worried about how Klay will handle things when he takes a seat in the playoffs cause we go with more defense. From an attitude standpoint he hasn’t exactly aged gracefully.

Klay played 30 minutes last year. He will be around 28 this year I think.

In the final six games, ramping up for the play-in tournament, Klay hits 29-63 on threes (46%) and all 13 of his free throws while hitting 24-40 of his twos. He was playing great offensively and the Warriors went 4-2 with a two point loss to Dallas and a five point loss to New Orleans. He then proceeded to go 0-10 in the most important game of the season…..and he has done this before in big, high pressure, elimination games. You can be a great shooter and not a great clutch performer in the playoffs. He was 4-19 in the elimination game against Sacramento in 2023 and 3-19 in the elimination game against the lakers. In the closeout game vs. Boston in 2021 he was 5-20. He has proven to be a guy who’s both great and Terrible. With Dallas his value is in floor spreading, not always in shot taking. He won’t have the pressure of golden state. The Mavs will learn early not trust him with the game on the line. We need him to draw coverage with his reputation. Hopefully very tight coverage. No more moving around a lot. He will be the leagues most expensive decoy and “championship experience” player. He shouldn’t and probably won’t be on the court at the end of games. You will need stops and baskets and Luka-Kyrie-Lively-PJ and our best defensive stopper will be on the court when it counts and the game is close, Either Exum, grimes or Naji. Whoever is playing the best at the time and the best matchup. Maybe OMax at some point this year because of all his length and energy. This won’t sit well with Klay. By February it will likely time to cut bait and move him and others for a player WHO CAN HELP US.

I guess I'm one of the only ones down on this move....I just don't think Klay has much left in the tank. Mediocre defense and streaky shooting. Mavs can't afford a guy shooting 0-10 in the playoffs, we traded away Tim Hardaway Jr who was that guy with insane confidence even when missing like 30 shots in a row. They didn't give up much for him, but I still think they overpaid. He needs to come off the bench so Marshall can fill the DJ Jr role. But I hope they prove us all wrong. I think this could become the Chandler Parsons or Luol Deng contract especially in year 3. However it is impressive that Mavs were even on the radar of a top free agent. The bet is that Luka makes Klay better...we will see. I wish they had traded for a younger guy with more athleticism and upside.

I like Josh Green but in all reality most of his games he was hesitant to shoot. Grimes is shooting double the amount of 3s than Green and Thompson is shooting 3 times the amount of 3s than Green. He was never able to navigate a screen and he was overhelping in the wrong moment. Thompson may have lost a step but he still has a high basketball IQ and knows how to defend in a system.

I don't know if he is on a steep decline, or will fit perfectly with Luka, but the Mavs convincing players of his stature, bodes well for the future and the changing perception of the Mavericks around the league.

Dude in the dark camera is completely not trustworthy. Dallas made Dorion FS a shooter. PH has had an unorthodox shot. It’s hard for people of that size to develop a consistent shot because they grow so much from the early age of learning to shoot and how their body finishes.
@sheaconnelly42878 күн бұрын
Whoever this guy is commenting from the dark…Dude wake up! Celtics have the prototypical team for modern NBA. The Knicks and 76ers are trying to replicate and close. I am a Mavs fan. 3 and D is legit. Dallas needs a player like Klay Thompson but as long as we keep adding on ball defense with size and shooting. We will contend. Klay makes Dallas a champion contender in the next 2-3 years.

Green’s hands have nothing to do with his finishing around the rim this season. Last season, he was very good around the rim. I think for a solid 1-2 months, he was shooting like 70% in the paint, and there was a period as well where he had the most points in the restricted area behind just Kyrie and Luka. The difference though, is he stopped doing some of his post moves. He used a fade away last year, for example, that worked really well for him. For some reason, he deviated from things that worked for him.
@Someguy88228 күн бұрын
This Klay talk is growing on me as long as he’s locked in and can adjust to changing teams / states and not just trying to get paid 1 last time. Mavs offense would dry up at times this year because we had to solely rely on Luka / Kyrie, with Klay (and potentially Marshal) it addresses our 3point shooting woe and spacing. I would be fine with taking a bit of a hit on defense if we could gain it back with offense tbh.
