I look forward to the final part where you can explain how john warhammer killed horus heresy for stealing 39,999 warhammers out of 40k But what a video. It's very well written, and i drive for a living, so hour long videos are my type of thing. Loved it.

Very good vid, Horus fall is very interesting because he essentially was a decent guy but had an ego problem and desperately wanted to be liked by everyone. He compared himself to much to Big E and felt that as Warmaster he had to be perfect just like him! Imo the fact that Horus was practically the only Primarch directly raised by Big E shows just how bad of a father Big E is, how he essentially raised a demigod to be the ultimate conquer and politico but didn’t teach him about controlling his emotions and didn’t show him unconditional love. All Primarchs are just powerful tools to Big E even though he caters to their emotions at the moment when he needs to because he knows they’re fragile! Also I think the reason Horus felt Sanguinius was the better option for Warmaster is because while he has every skill Horus has (other than more experience), he doesn’t have the ambition and the need to be liked and respected by everyone (aloofness). He doesn’t have the need to maintain a great image personally like Horus does, and that’s why ultimately he’s better because he’s more humble and more willing to do the right thing even if he’s not appreciated or thanked for it! (Sangy was probably the better option because again he didn’t want to be Warmaster where Horus obviously did, even though he disliked the idea his brothers would not like him or give him the respect he wanted!) Again good fucking vid you have alot of potential with this channel, pls keep it up!

Great point about Sanguinius, that makes a lot of sense when thinking about their final confrontation during the Siege of Terra, the ultimate culmination of their differences. The Emperor did a lot of things right, and knows more about pretty much everything than everyone else, but he doesn't know anything about being a father. Just like you said, they're tools to him.
@Parboo21312 күн бұрын
I don't want to be that guy. Big E was horrible in almost every way. However, sometimes it's necessary to do horrible things for the greater good. The way he treated the primarcks was disgusting, but what's 20 demi gods that he created and, presumably, could create again compared to all of humanity. He had a goal, but to achieve this goal, he needed the right tools, not sons. But I do agree that Big E was horrible 😅
@UnofficialOmnibus10 күн бұрын
@@Parboo213 No, I agree. In my eyes the Emperor was humanity's best chance for a future free of chaos and the ruin that it brings. He ordered and enacted the deaths of billions in that pursuit, but in a galaxy where truly only the fittest survive, 20 lives mean nothing. There are moments, such as in Master of Mankind, where he geniuinely seems saddened by the fate of his sons, looking desparatly for a way to remove Angron's Butcher's nails. You could interpret this sadness for his wish for perfect tools to wield and control, but I think there is at least a part of him that mourns his children. Without spoiling the End and the Death, he has a love for his children, though its probably born of a selfish nature, being alone for 35 thousand years before the birth of his sons.

Great video and congrats on the milestones. To put your mind at ease, no the tyranids are not running from anything. I'm not sure why theories are still floating around because there is a definitive answer in the lore in the Epiloge of the novel Pharos and confirmed again in the Heresy short story "The Heart of the Pharos". Basically, the Pharos machine on Sotha was an ancient necron device and when it was used during the heresy it sent a signal out beyod the galaxy into deep space. "The Great Devourer" had been slumbering for aeons between the stars. It saw the signal, woke up, and began heading for its new prey. I like your take on the alpha legion.

I hope you go big with your channel love 40k lore! 13:34 imo I also believe not every human civilization that survived the Long March was turned on by AI. Again most of the accounts of AI rebelling comes from the core Federation of humanity which is the Solar System! Also I believe the AI rebellion wasn’t that bad, I believe it was a horrible situation but there definitely was failsafes for humanity to override AI’s decision making to gain back control over them, humans were caught off guard and rallied to gain control over the AI they could force back into their control which is how they won the war ultimately against the AI. That would also explain how their was tech left over for future generations to use, such as in the Age of Strife era and Unification Wars era!
@braxtongrundy4625Ай бұрын
11:40 in my head canon AI betrays humanity by their own choice of believing humans to be inferior for being dependent on them. Which is why they betrayed there creators!

Nice, Arnold Schwarzenegger would be proud. Dan Abnett's 'First and Only' talks about Men of Iron a bit and actually features a few, if you're interested in that
@braxtongrundy4625Ай бұрын
My head canon/theory is that the Eldar Empire did rule most of the galaxy but because of their increased decadence/moral decline it makes sense that they would care less about humanity slowly settling on planets close to their systems! Also I believe humanities expansion was inflated in records and there were more failures in exploration and colonization. Because as you stated at 3:59, I believe there were only some success in colonizing across the stars. Lastly imo while during the GC the IoM conquered a lot of human settled planets most definitely were mutants or outright xenos!

What role, if any, do you think the emporor had in the golden age of technology? I like to think he wasnt spearheading humanity, but in the shadows wispiring in the ears of right people to ensure humanity moved forward. Then when everything went to hell he was like "forget it, ill do it myself"
@Parboo213Ай бұрын
I like this idea so much because it gives me the impression that the emporor is 40ks Sisyphus. Destined to push the boulder, humanity up to some potential some goal! Only for the boulder to roll back down.

Again this is such a grey area in the lore, but in the Siege of Terra books, Erda talks about the Emperor back when he was just Neoth. Perpetuals are an absolutely, singularly, rare specimen in any sentient species, so those that do form are often attracted to each other. Erda states that he took the most common approach and simply acted as a guide like you say, doing small things to benefit the race but largely staying in the shadows. However, another perpetual, Ollanius Persson, recalls a memory of him as Neoth's first 'Warmaster', which is a whole other conversation, wiping out a chaos cult group way back in antiquity. This is all to say, it was likely mostly passive assistance, only stepping forward fully to battle chaos, but the war against the Men of Iron was likely the tipping point where he decided to take the wheel.

@@Parboo213 I've been frantically rereading the Horus Heresy over the last few weeks so I'm gonna dive into them fully soon, but no youtuber is an adequate replacement for the novels themselves. Dan Abnett and James Swallow are masterclasses on how to write good Warhammer novels, I'd recommend anything by them.

Something I want to know is how the eldars gods and mythical heroes (eldanesh, ulthanesh) fit in with the old ones and the actual history… We know the old ones created the eldar so how do they have these gods who are/were clearly real
@UnofficialOmnibusАй бұрын
Sorry about the delay, I was on vacation. The Eldar didn't see their Gods as actually real, living entities. They don't view Gods as the creators of the universe or the founder of their species. They instead hold their Gods as consummate pinnacles of their respective orders. Kaela Mensha Khaine is the ultimate amalgamation of warfare and destruction just like how Kurnous was the ultimate hunter. They saw their Gods as two-fold entities; as tools to be called upon and wielded whenever needed, and shining examples that Eldar should aspire to be. They know the Gods were built by themselves, but that knowledge doesn't make them less powerful. They don't worship their gods, but they show them the same level of reverence as Eldanesh and Ulthanesh. These two are revered because the Eldar are a race that have chronically chased perfection, which led to their ultimate downfall, but these two are the closest their race has ever come to this ideal. This is why the ritual of Young King, a ritual founded upon the story of Eldanesh, is needed to awaken an Avatar of Khaine. Mortal interference is required for the gods to act.

Despite claiming this isn't an in-depth video, you mention and talked about things I knew next to nothing about. To my knowledge its never been made clear whether the Old Ones used the Warp to create all of their descendant species or if they simply used technology. Personally I always just assumed their tech was so advanced that they could just grow them in vats essentially. It has however, been confirmed through stories that the Warp only exists in the Milky Way Galaxy, so this could be a pretty plausible explanation for why. Really good insight here

Your script is well written and the delivery is good. I found the music distracting from what you were saying. The chimes especially. As someone who watches a decent amount of video essays on horror content the thing I’m looking for is someone to summarize the movie while still telling the full story. Then after I have full context tell me their thoughts on it. Your summarization only briefly touches on each short, Maybe because you want your viewer to be familiar with the VHS series prior to watching your video. I think that limits your audience. I don’t watch that many horror movie so videos like these make the stories far more accessible as well as gives me someone’s opinion and analysis. Not sure if why I watch these is why others watch them, but hoped maybe that insight on me might help figure out who your audience might be. This is a great video and I hope you continue to make more.
