@@FISHTN1 If the trout is smaller than about 10-12 inches and I pan fry them I don’t worry to much about the pin bones. Most of them dissolve in the heat. Larger trout you can cut out. We have another video on the channel that shows how to remove them.

Where do you get 'FILLAY' from. It s FILLET. If you are trying to sound french, it would be FEE_AY.

It can be pronounced either way. Here in Utah everyone pronounces it fillay. I’ve never heard anyone pronounce it with the ET.

Couple hours probably. I usually just cook them whole but wanted to learn something new so I thought I’d give it a shot. First time. Lost a lot of meat but one of them turned out okay.

@@kevinorton2552 The sooner you get them filleted the better. After a while the trout will get mushy and hard to fillet. Not sure if that played into your issues or not.

I actually really appreciate this slower method of filleting trout. It seems more fool proof and great for first timers. Stay unique. Every other video I've seen on this looks like the presenter is trying to show me a magic trick. It's not an quick an easy thing to do your first time. Just to show how good your work is you should have shown the carcass and the back side of the skinned fillet. You did a awesome job

The only bones left are some pin bones. I have another video that explains how to remove those. I generally don’t cut the pin bones out myself because you to lose some meats. When I pan fry trout most of the pin bones soften up and aren’t noticeable. If it is a large trout then the pin bones are easy to just pluck out.

I have another video that shows how to cut out the pin bones. I don’t ever remove them on my own trout though. The bones dissolve when pan frying smaller trout. Large ones are easy just pull out after they are cooked.

@@beauzxcvb It actually doesn’t take long at all. This is a tutorial so of course I’m going to take my time explaining the process. My fastest time was 14 seconds. I average about 30 seconds per fish.

Im not blaming your instructions but I regret trying this. It was a disaster. The fish was so incredibly slimy it slipped right off the towel. It was not nearly as easily split in half as the one here and remained largely a whole fish with a split down the middle. I could not for the life of me find where the break the neck nor could I grip it. I opted to cut its head off entirely. My knife, which is very sharp and small still could not get between the flesh and bone so cleanely and I could not cut through the tissue easily. In the end I made a complete shredded mess of the fish. Which was unsalvagable. I had to bury it in the garden. Again, I dont blame these instructions, but I think this technique is not for amateurs
