the downfall of Star Wars started in 1997 with these special editions and with prequels. He tried to retcon the cultural context of a movie made 20 years before for unexplainable reasons. Maybe he wanted to adapt and address the prequels prominently for children or maybe he wanted to attract more financers for a safer family friendly blockbuster and that's why the rigid separation between evil and good. But now in 2024..after he sold his artistical heritage and in tv series Acolyte even jedi knights are depicted as the bad seeds...his changes seem just obnoxious and ridicolous. For me he dried up his talent in the layer 80s and he spent his last 40 years being adulated and gathering gigantic moneys from toys merchandising.His best movie remains THX 1138 (not special edition): a very mature and gloomy dystopic sci-fi. First Star Wars trilogy remains his most entertaining ones.

If one is a fan of any aspect of Star Wars, than they're a fan period. Although I was born in 1977, I did not start watching until around the 1980s. I've been hooked ever since. Although I don't like how Disney disrespected George Lucas & screwed up Star Wars. Yet I'm still a fan no matter what. The fact that the new director remade episodes 1-6 with some new characters to make episodes 7-9. That's what I'm pissed off about.

Thanks for your review. First two episodes of the Acolyte were okay but i felt disappointed with the third and fourth episodes. The series feels more like a corporate product that ticks diversity tickboxes then an organic story. I am not opposed to diverse representation but think rhag the story has to be good.

The hype for this movie was INSANE. Perhaps the most I'd ever seen for a film. You really had to be there to understand it.

Jeremy Jahns summed it up perfectly in his review. It felt like a CW show. A bad one. Like the people who made it think they know what SW is and have only heard about it. When the creator of the show even comes out and says it's the 'gayest SW ever" and the fact that the only prominent white character is a prisoner tells you all you need to know and what Disney is trying to continue to push here. I think it's objectively bad..
