90 percent of the time they wouldn’t do this in real life because of too much of a threat from anti aircraft weapons. Unless it’s some kind of a domestic scenario where those kind of weapons aren’t a factor. In Iraq we never saw helicopters get used like this. They stayed as high as possible over Baghdad. If they got low they would get shot down by Dshka or SAM fire pretty fast.
