I have not been to trans bay since 1996. AC transit drivers might remember a charter bus parked under the first blue arch. I was there every night from 00:15 to 06:15 on layover from Reno.

I'll tell you if one thing the old one may have been 65 70 years old but it was built to last this one will start falling apart within 10 years ! P.S this just in the rooftop garden sidewalks are already crumbling and cracking

The center is massive and nothing like it has ever been built so there's bound to be lessons learned. A little crumbly pavement on the roof park is pretty minor. But taken as a whole, it is a work of art and each day the park and Grand Hall fill with people to enjoy it. As for the old terminal - you can pull archive editions of the San Francisco Chronicle from the SF Library website. Look for the issues around mid-January, 1939 when the old terminal opened. It had it's own fair share of critics too. By the way, if the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake lasted just a little longer the old terminal may not have survived. The state spent tens of millions after the earthquake on seismic upgrades and still needed to spend tens of millions more to upgrade fire, lifesafety, ADA, electrical,HVAC code compliance.

But now SF has more corruption and more beggars in the streets because of that corruption. Not everything has improved.
@willspargur74666 жыл бұрын
People who know SF history will argue whether there's more corruption now than in the past and whether corruption is even the primary cause of the city's woes. These woes are not limited to SF and some have origins beyond California.

Hi TransbayGuy. I'm producing a video project for The Atlantic about responsible investing and we are hoping to featuring the transbay center as a case study. I would love to talk to you about the possibility of licensing some of your footage for use in our video. I can be reached at nicknicknick at gmail. Please contact me at your soonest possible convenience. Thanks! Awesome work!

Why do the buses cross in the middle of the new bus ramp? The reason the buses have to switch to the left side when entering the Transit Center is because the doors on the buses are on the right side of the bus and the loading island in the terminal is in the middle.

TransbayGuy So you’re saying they screwed up? REALLY?! THEY HAD ONE JOB! THATS IT! NOT IMPRESSED! BOOOOOOOOOOO!👎👎
@TransbayGuy6 жыл бұрын
Actually it increases the number of buses that can load and unload in the Transit Center and you don't need to build as large a ramp structure. In addition the land that the old ramp structure occupied is freed up and can be sold to finance the construction of the Transit Center. In fact, the Park Tower, NE corner of Howard and Beale Streets, sits on land that was once part of the old Terminal Bus Ramps which was bought by a developer for $170M. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Park_Tower_at_Transbay

how would a bus serve some of the E stations such as 4th and King? especially a low floor one
@willspargur74666 жыл бұрын
The Bus Deck of the Transit Center will be for Treasure Island bound buses, all other Muni Buses will use the Bus Plaza at Street Level on the East end of the Transit Center
