I remember the bv taps are crap. We removed them and one of the steering system valves tap on a Chieftain fits perfectly. We also used a box of 7.62, tin snips , a bv element and some mesh to make a turret toaster for the Raoc fresh bread we got daily off the Sqms back in the day when we had an army! Shower was two plastic bowls Foot in each Bollock naked A Gerry can of water tipped over you by a mate Electric razors were useful too We always had a double gas burner and the multifuel pump burners which were handy. Beer in the ammo bins A spice rack too And a bottle of Bushmills . I also had a car hifi wired up the ic. Happy days. Scimitar bivvies too Or the back decks with a tank sheet

I think we did 1.5 tanks in a working day so two days for the whole Troop. Brings back memories. Where’s the crate though? Beer and track bashing goes hand in hand?

I don’t know the Cr 2 track but Cr 1 was much simpler with circlips and easy to graunch the pin back in with a crow bar and lump hammer . Do you still use the half track technique as a get you home emergency? Seen it done once and the CS made it back to the Sqn hide. Tank crew is an art form definitely. I hear now that each regiment only has a Sqn of tanks which they share? The rest are in pres? What utter utter bollox. In my time it was all four sqns down the tank park hands on every day Monday to Friday How are the crews supposed to learn without tanks? Do you still use chalk on the bazooka plates to calculate the pull figures etc? I note no Hgv canvas and frame on the Caarv and the lack of bunk beds on the back decks. In Baor we had comfort down to a science.

Track bashing is great fun. So long as you have a hard standing. Actually the Chieftain was easier than Challenger because you could turn it on tickover so it was much easier to wind the track back on. 88-92 links on Cr if I remember correctly! Ex QRIH.

Unfortunately not. Truth is I'm not sh*t....filled the position off sgt, ssgt plenty of times. On the last major exercise in Europe I filled in for a warrant officers role and was responsible for controlling recovery in two countries at the same time......but still no promotion. It's as simple as my face doesn't fit 👀

Depends how aggressively you run really 🤣 I have had it in an airsoft game once when I lost my helmet mid bound 🤣 it is pretty weighty so should stay put. When you do your video, come back and drop the link below 👇 so I can watch it ☺️

But they were a long walk across the fields. The terrain on the drive in was mental. Years of erosion by tanks and very very deep ruts and puddles. The showers were very high pressure too Fond memories of Baor.

Somewhat more difficult to restore and maintain than a Scammell Pioneer. How many WW2 armoured recovery vehicles are seen at shows?. Let alone the Centurion type that was happily sold off for less than dead weight scrap price as too expensive to cut up. A lovely toy as long as the tax payer pays the bill. Sadly, I see very little future for these sophisticated toys in preservation outside the Tank Museum as a soon to be static exhibit.

I would call these camo patterns experimental since they are not effective at fooling the enemy to believe they can't see them. Camo is suppose to be fool-proof hence the term camouflage! They instead make it look like a fashion show contest.🤣

Having worn the Belgian jigsaw in the mid to late 90's I can tell you its actually a lot more effective than the colours would suggest. Works particularly well in the woods in fall and works surprisingly well in forests in general.

The American UCP was probably not the best camo but the worst thing about those uniforms was the "hook and loop" fasteners that A) did not stay shut when you wanted them to, and 2) made loud noises when opened up.

Not quite, I didn't own a l85 replica at the time so had to do the photos with an l96 but strangely enough I had snipers as top covers in my truck various times on tour. They were obviously behind a gpmg in the turret and their sniper rifles were laid across the seat with the suppressor on my lap because they were so long 😂
