BAP is indeed a controversial figure in modern philosophy. Yet man speaking here did not provide any counterarguments to his position. In contrary, even his take on "reason did not achieve anything valuable" that supposedly would win an applause at Ivy league is precisely what BAP is taking about, a cyclical argument of sorts. I would not go as far as claiming that BAP is a revolutionary philosopher, but his work is realy groundbreaking or, as i would like it be, icebreaking - shaking and movind modern mainstream philosophical consensus. And if we go as far to believe that Costin Alamariu and BAP is the same person, his next work "Selevtive Breeding..." more than proves the point Thanks for a recap on a Bronze Age Mindset

In BAPs defense as well as Friedrich’s the imposition is that the Conqueror’s actions are spontaneous so whether for the sake of another or for himself it’s not a matter of reason it’s a matter of animalism.

Wait wait wait let’s tread carefully with the Apocalypse now stuff as far as I’m concerned he constructs an absolutely spot on analogy. One that demands contemplation. Also let’s not forget Nietzsche is BAPs primary inspiration and Apocalypse Now as well as the source novel was written in the interim of Nietzsche and BAP making it highly relevant. Plus brother there’s no movement there’s no us if you read BAM you know this

Yawn. It's the Democrats who are anti-democracy. Every ounce of their behavior backs it. I checked Amazon. The book sold around 2,500 copies. It's hardly a movement. As a conservative, I've never heard of it. Why do people waste their brains listening to a criticism of, from reading the Amazon summary, tongue-in-cheek camp.

When you enumerate the characteristics of the 'new elite' you neglect what is probably the most important constituent demographic which is WOMEN. No one seems to be able to offer or even perceive the importance of the lack of an explanation of what underpinned the RISE of the 'new elite'. Yes, they are highly educated, professional group but what is by far the most outstanding change in the makeup of the 'intelligencia'? It is their SEX.

For academic people I'm surprised that you think that your title is an accurate use of English. "The New Elite" is singular, not plural. There is no working class anymore. There is only the super rich, the wannabe rich and the underclass. The so called working class sold their souls and pissed away their credibility when they voted for the Tories and Brexit.

I really enjoyed this talk and it inspired me to read The Radetzky March. Mrs Lewis (did you see what I did there?) explains brilliantly why it's so relevant to today. It helps me see that the passionate divisions that are emerging are not conflicts between right and wrong, but attachments to old and new ideas about how society should operate. It's not just the collapse of the British Empire we're coming to terms with, now it's the end of America as the cornerstone of our culture, security and political authority. I grew up with Russian Communism being the enemy, the NHS being a good thing, our institutions being the envy of the world. It seems we all take our own time to realise that what was, is no longer. And like the Trottas we act out these dramas in our own lives.
