I think radio rallys are brilliant because I went to the Blackpool Rally last year and I brought a Motorola GM-350 ex PMR radio 4 channels and it pushes out 25 Watts which is decent and in my area I speak to people all the time on the 4 meters and I also got a Kenwood desk microphone for my Yaesu FT-950 for £54 and the radio cost me £35 but I was very happy with what I got at the rally and there was loads of hams selling junk in the bag like what you got for £1 there was loads of stalls like that up in Blackpool. Thanks and best 73's for now cheers. Stephen M3SNV 73's.

I've built this. Can hear my signal at night coming back on SDR receivers. Always detectable in Netherlands at night and heard as far as Northern Ireland. Tx based in SE England. Also tested the Corsair around 9 watts and S9 in Northern Ireland and S3 in Iceland using a half wave end fed washing line aerial. QRP on 6MHz works very well at night.

Just came across this video after finding out my wireless charger does a similar thing as well. I got a charging dock for my phone and watch in order to tidy up the mess of wires. Then I noticed some very similar interference on 2m, but also on 20m! Mine is more of an S9 pulsing at regular intervals on 2m FM. And sounds like boop.... boop boop.... boop.... boop boop on 20m SSB Initially I thought I solved it by wrapping the power cord in a ferrite but it came back. I guess it's likely from the induction coils and it's probably doing some sort of sweep to try and detect if something is sitting on the charger. I'm not sure if there's much that can be done about it if it's coming from the coils, other than try and find another charger that might not do it as much. My solution for now is just to unplug it when it's not in use.

I have the exact same problem with a Yootech wireless charger. I also have the official magnetic Apple charger that does not cause any RFI. I am looking for a replacement but hoping to save a little by avoiding the official Apple charger that reminds me of a stethoscope. If you find a brand on Amazon that is RFI safe, please let me know

Good fun and you did pretty well in compromised circumstances. A short whip, 1ft off the ground with trees blocking signal either side...that's quite a test and you got some good results. Would love to have seen how you would have done with a clear take-off. I've subscribed.

Operating these kinds of devices are a good exercise. They are no doubt a compromise antenna. But operators learn new techniques to make them work better and better. Nice to see these still around but used only. They still fetch a premium price when they show up on eBay. Fun to watch your video. 73’s de n5vwn

Take a ruler, measure everything, count the turns, the diameter of the wire. And publish a sketch of the antenna. You will be thanked by Everyone. If it costs little , it means that it is easy to manufacture. Why buy if you can repeat it ?

If any of you just bought the FT4X you will notice a part that came ln the box that is not on the packing contents. It's black with a flat base and two metal tip pins. It took some time and web search but I found out it's for foreign power supply adapter. Should not even been shipped with a usa sold radio.

Many many thanks for posting this, it really helped me as I had the same problem! The wireless desk charger is branded "Yootech" from Amazon, my pulse was about 4 per second so a bit more rapid than yours, radio is FT991A and indeed the whole of 2m was ruined. I live detached so knew it had to be me, was worried it would be the central heating controls, which can't just be turned off! Thanks again Adrian G1TTX

There's an error in your schematic. There's no B+ supplied to the collector of Q2 Q2's collector as indicated in schematic is connected to the output of the LM386 through L2 and L3 but there's no connection to the 12V power source. This wont work - please post revised schematic

I am hoping that one of the major players such as Icom or Yaesu comes up with a stand-alone SSTV device if Kenwood does not. I know that you can send out SSTV using a PC or Android now, but a dedicated device would be amazing for all HT users interested in mobile SSTV. Thanks for the video! 73 de KC9MAQ
