Like most Trac Vac rigs, this has some interesting”modifications” to it... Notice it looks like it’s been re-engined, but with some type of belt drive in place of flywheel/shredder mounted directly to engine. Intake hose hangers are available if you get tired of tying up your hose. Our Model 580 just completed its 47th season (re-engined once), and outside of some welding to reinforce the turbine housing, has held together remarkably well. Just got new intake hose and added some Fiberglas tape to strengthen the exhaust tube, and did break down and replaced the original Goodyear Marathon II tires due to rot (and that nobody makes a 4.30 replacement anymore).

Thanks for awesome vid!! Appreciate sharing info!! Mine is 2009 Honda CRV with a leaking crank oil seal, question is i just have to jack the car put stand & crank for a fraction with the socket secured in place correct no need to remove ignition plug wires or serpentine belt? One the bolt comes off then i can take off the belt & pulley to replace the crank seal correct? Plese answer both queries, thanks!!

Do all crankshafts turn the same direction? I wouldn't want to tighten it instead.
@posplayr2 жыл бұрын
I just replaced two idlers, and the tensioner pullies yesterday with a new belt and alternator. All bolts going into the aluminum are rated at 18 ft lbs per the factory manual. I made sure they were all very clean, used some blue locktite, and went to about 22-23 ft-lbs for a better piece of mind. Putting on a new belt is a mine bender. I did it primarily from below. The belt needs to be positioned before reinstalling the tensioner. The final step to slip the belt on means pulling the belt off the alternator. Then fully depress the tensioner (from the top) and slip the belt over the nose of the alternator. My new belt was tight and I used a wide flat screwdriver to get it over the 8 grove alternator pulley while the tensioner was fully depressed. If you did this every day it would go faster, but it has been 3 years since I did it last. And ++ on regreasing all the bearings. Not sure if this is a good choice but i used Mobilith SHC 100 Red Lithium Complex Grease

Will this work on honda crosstour 2012
@e39M5e46M32 жыл бұрын
I dont see why not! Always familiarize yourself with direction motor is turning. To do that, lets 2nd person turn the key for split of a second while you keep visual on crankshaft rotation. After rotation direction is established, you can proceed with your setup.
@dariusstack2 жыл бұрын
It worked on ya honda but I'm asking will that trick work on all honda models or all cars period
@e39M5e46M32 жыл бұрын
this trick will work on all engines where crankshaft rotates clockwise while harmonic balancer bolt loosens counterclockwise. Only few are odd cases. Therefore you must know which direction your motor is turning.

I would definitely not recommend that unless you plan on replacing your engine, that is way too much silicone gasket sealer that could possibly go into your engine oil causing clogging to vital areas. I can see using a little bit around the gasket areas but by smearing and all over at the place going to cause contaminant to your oil and will harm your engine this guy is an idiot.

I just broke the crankshaft pulley bolt loose on my 2008 Honda Fit! I used a "3:1 Torque Multiplier ($257 new on Amazon)" and the crank pulley holding tool ($13). I ran a bunch of 1/2" extensions out from the multiplier and rested them on a jack stand and used a breaker bar with a 4 ft. cheater pipe on it and it broke loose. Even though the torque multiplier is rated for 1100 ft/lbs, I still had to put out on that cheater pipe. My 450 ft/lb. electric impact with the special crankshaft 19mm socket from Honda was not enough to break it loose.

This was a good test. I have a big problem though. I changed the driver side engine mount a week ago (upper right). There were vibrations before which went away immediately. What is troubling me is is that on a cold start, the vibration is back (exact same vibration when the mount was broken). It goes away after about 10-15 minutes of driving and never comes back untill the next day cold start. What could it be? I can't seem to find an answer.
@e39M5e46M32 жыл бұрын
Could be due to how this new mount operates. Or it could be yet another bad engine/tranny mounts. Check rest of them. With only one replaced you’ve successfully reduced the vibration, it’s a good sign.
