I have autism and I personally consider myself to suffer from it. my life is a lot harder than other peoples. therefore, I suffer socially and sensory wise.

Strangely Morgan I suffer too and I would love to have a guide dog to help me when I go outside.

I also have autism and I do consider myself to suffer from it. The anxiety attacks I get due to it (especially when they happen in public) make me feel absolutely miserable. I would absolutely love to have an autism assistance dog, it would make going out in public for me less nerve wracking (since I have a tendency to worry about something going wrong to cause me to have another meltdown in public whenever I have to go out). Unfortunately I don’t know if I’ll ever have the money to get one.

Sensory wise, I suffer. Socially.. Ehh.. I've been picked on by peers growing up, but I've had a few friends. My sensitive hearing is what gets me into a meltdown every day.. But I try to hide it around other people. I don't know if I even need a service dog because I've grown up without it, even though I still have the same problems.. But if I ask my mother, she probably would just think that I only want one because other people have them. Idk..

You do not speak for everyone. This is where PC bs strips people of their autonomy. Enough already. If ppl say they "suffer" who are you to tell them otherwise?

The diagnostic criteria have changed. Now people with classical autism and Aspergers would be considered to fall under the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis. It is a lifelong disorder though people certainly can learn to manage their sensory and processing differences in some cases.

Looks like a good cause, however please look at their latest annual report on their website 2013 ? Raised nearly $4m in donations, less $2.5m in fundraising costs, plus $1.5m in other expenses. No wonder it costs so much to train the dogs.

Hi, I am an editor of an independent film and I would like the license to this video on KZbin. Please let me know how I can get the rights. I only want to use about 10 seconds for an opening credits montage. Thanks.

They both can do a great job. I know with people who get guide dogs they match the person up with walking speed and other things. Apply for a dog and keep open to what one you get, as it need to be trained first.

Do you mean like which breed of those two would be better for them? I'd say do your research on the two. There's a reason those are very common breeds for service dogs--they're very smart, gentle, and easily trained. But they aren't the only dogs who can be SDs. I'm training my 3 month old standard poodle to by my mobility assistance SD. If you want a program trained dog, then many programs will provide a breed for you. If you owner train, then you get the freedom to choose what fits your life.

I don't "suffer" from my Asperger's Syndrome. In the words of Dr. Tony Attwood "you don't suffer from Asperger's, you suffer from other people!" This is true and I thank Autism for my ability to focus and my creativity. That being said, I think Autism service dogs are a billiant idea. My dog is my best friend, and gave me the interaction I craved when people were too confusing.

DOGS do miracle!!!!! It's funny how they say: "if the little boy wants to run away or do this, the dog will interfere"..... whereas so many people can't even control a dog.... the dog is the one running away!!
