This Mass by Goemanne is a fine piece of writing! Brilliant in many ways , so solid for the forces he wrote it for!

I commented on this masterpiece last year and my feelings about it have not diminished one bit! Why is it hardly performed? Looking forward to hearing it live this Thursday here in California. It is a no brained for the music programmers at Notre Dame. Would be heavenly divine in there, plus Gounod was French.

This is such a BEAUTIFUL carol!! Most of the trebles I trained over the years that sang this beautiful carol , liked it!!!!! That says a lot!!! In my time as director there, we maybe rendered it three or four different years at Midnight Mass. The young singers are telling you in truth, what is truly good!!

The composer Henri F. Hemy was my great-great-grandfather. I assume the picture at the start, with his Royal Modern Pianoforte Tutor in the background, is him in old age. I wish I knew where this picture can be found.

There is a simplistic beauty to this tune written by J. Michael Haydn. He was a fine composer and wrote many fine works. However, it seems like he was always living in the shadow of his older brother, his older brother was one of the greatest composers of all time!! Yet , the younger brother, Johann Michael, wrote many TRULY fine pieces of music!!! I have performed a number of them myself. And find every one of his compositions that I have studied and performed to be really well written and to be really fine music indeed !!! I am a Haydn fan!!! Both of , Franz Joseph , and Johann Michael! Enough said!

Again, Widor was a very fine organist, composer, and musician! He influenced and inspired many young composers and organists in his teaching! Many of them developed into fine composers creating fine works of music! Bless his soul, for sharing his gifts and knowledge and passing it on to future generations!

Also, the way Laura sang the soprano solo parts so incredibly was off the charts for a such a young singer!!! I was SO proud of her !!!! She always gave it her all!! That is what I was trying to instill in her, because, in my life ,I was always about giving it my all. In sports, they say , leave it all on the court!!!! It is the same in performing and rendering great music!!!! You have to really lay it out there!!!! Enough said!!!!!

Not only that this is a REALLY fine rendition of the incredible music that Diabelli composed for this Sanctus and Benedictus from his Pastoral Messe in F!!! One need only to listen to the other sections of this Mass, that are available on this channel to realize that this is truly most likely the BEST CHRISTMAS MASS ever written!!!! The wonderful music Diabelli composed has the true spirit of lightness and joy and life and kindness that Christmas is all about!!!! The absolutely beautiful music that Diabelli created in this great Mass setting is unbounded!! I find it as pure genius, in Mozart’s league! Which is no small comparison! As Mozart was one of the GREATEST musical geniuses of all time!

Jacob is correct here! Anna Kurhajetz was indeed the alto soloist. Now Anna Weber. And should be given accurate credit!

Was a staple of the repertoire at Immaculate Conception Cathedral and featured on their recording "Camp St Malo sings" from the 1950s. The Mass in F by Charles Wood is dedicated to SPW-S P Waddington! Both Monsignor Bozetti and Msgr. Hiester conducted it often with the large choir of men and boys.

It’s rare to find quite a performance of a hymn such as this. Its sheer ebullience is irresistible and brings tears by the shock of inspiration. If our faith lacks, our musicians and writers remind us of the importance of hope (and peace).

Just found this - sung as part of a mixed schools choir at the Royal Festival Hall for Newham Goes To Town in I think, late 60s . Such a thrill for us and a lasting, treasured memory.

I agree with Jacob. Laura sings beautifully here! In my years as music director, I trained Laura ( starting when she was in the fifth grade) to be the fine singer she became. I had her sing numerous solos - so many , it is hard to count them all, though quite a number of them can be found on this channel- in those years! So many of those solos she sang wonderfully. At times, it seemed amazing that a person this young could sing so well with a maturity and musical integrity and sensitivity and nuance in her singing and that she could render all the really fine Sacred music she was assigned to sing like a seasoned professional! For me that was a WOW factor! God bless you Laura!!!
