I have 7 girls (16,12,10,7,5,3,1) I start them doing their own laundry at 8-9 with guidance. The younger ones just out their laundry in the basket and sort and i wash and dry, they help fold and put away their laundry. It works for us. The 3 year old helps hang her stuff up and puts away her clothes.

“Real moms real solutions” is a KZbin page with a mom of like 17 kids. She has a great video on how they maintain their laundry. I have 3 kids, my sister has 6 kids, we use her system, it works!

I taught my teens to do their own. Double digest fold and put away their own. 6-9 put dirty clothes in the hamper as part of picking up their room.

My 12 year old knows how to start the washer and dryer, as well as how much detergent to use. He's been sorting and putting up his own laundry since he was 8, with me checking in to make sure it's not just getting stuffed in a drawer. He also has his own hamper and knows to bring it out once it's full, and he'll start his own load. I didn't make him do it; he asked to be taught so he could do it himself. He's also learning to cook, which was also his choice. 🤷‍♀️

Yes he is such a helper! I just hadn’t “assigned” his clothes to him. My oldest two help sort, put away etc. but I hadn’t given it to them as one of their assigned jobs.

@@LaurenStewart yea same it's not really an assigned job I just call them over to help when I'm doing it. Idk if I could trust them to do it alone. But 13 might be old enough...I would let the 13 year old do a load of their clothes by themselves and see how it goes

My kids take turns loading and switching. I fold and give to them to put away. When they come to me and says i cant fit this i go and help them sort. My oldest is 10 and my other boy is 8. My 10 year old os almost to a point he can do it on his own but dosent like to let go of clothes that dont fit so i dont let him. Im thinking 12 is when we can find a system for him to do it 100% on his own, but we will see. Both older boys have their own chores and my daughter is almost 3. She is learning how to pick her own mess and potty training.

I have a 7 yr old who does her own. She brings her dirty laundry up, puts it in, starts it, switches it, puts it in a basket and puts it all away. Our five year old tried to do the same. She sometimes mixes up clean and dirty or wears a million outfits a day, but because she does her own laundry, ahes learning not to do that. Oh, and i have a 2 yr old who will yell at anyone who starts the washer or dryer. She must do it. Lol.

My son is 4 and he helps me do laundry. He is in charge of putting his dirty clothes in the hamper and then I carry it down the steps and he puts it in the washer I do the soap then he transfers it to the dryer then when it’s done he puts it in the laundry basket, I carry it upstairs and he puts it in his drawers after we make all of the laundry not inside out. We don’t fold our clothes lol. He also does his little sister’s laundry - she’s 1. Same process. It’s teaching him to help others from a young age. Plus for some reason he just really loves the responsibility and LOVES doing laundry hahahaha.

My daughters were doing all of theirs making their beds and keeping own rooms cleaned @ 9 and by 12 they were doing it daily wo having to say anything And because of that if they actually missed today I didn’t say anything to them because I knew they would get to it. I continuously let them know how proud I was of them also and I would do their laundry at times but Most of the time they wanted to do their own. They liked the way their system was because of something they got used to doing and they had certain days they did their laundry and they did it together.

My 10, 13 & 16 year old can all do laundry. The 10 year old usually does bath towels or kitchen towels since they don’t need to be spot checked. The older kids do one load of kid laundry a day. My husband handles ours twice a week. My two yr old folds and puts away kitchen towels & his own clothing with my guidance. One load of bedding a week means everybody gets clean bedding once a month or so.

start having them involved in the household chores younger than that, and they can build in skill as they age. no reason a 13 yo isn't doing anything with their laundry.

If your kids can reach the top of the washing machine, they can do their own laundry. Teach them to be self-sufficient and they won't depend on others to take care of them as adults.

my 13, 11 and 9 year old collect the laundry and can sort the dryer and start a lode on their own when tasked. Everyone's gets washed together and we do atleast one lode a day. Those three also then take their laundry and put it away on their own.

my 8 year old washes, dries, folds and puts hers away. I don't really care if there's clean laundry in the dirty, because she does it. my 4 year old washes and dries his, I fold it and then he puts it away. my 2 year old washes and dries his own and I fold it and put it away for him... but he likes to help take it to his room in the back of his dump truck 🚚 😊

At least teach them how. Definitely make them sort it. If it is not where you need it to be when you are doing laundry, I suggest making them do it themselves. You could also do a split of the chore. Where you take turns.

I have heard a mature 8-9 year old can, at least mostly. And a five year old can definitely help quite a bit. A two maybe a tad bit but might be more annoying for them to help but it can also teach them how to also.

Mama, I am so sorry that this happened to you. Ladies, we have to educate ourselves before going to the hospital to give birth. As much as we think they’re there to help us, they do a lot that harm us. Amniotomies are linked to placental abruption, cord prolapse, and increases risk of infection. So now this mama thinks this doctor saved her when she caused her to hemorrhage in the first place.

I had a traumatic birth experience with my daughter who is now 12! I had Hellp syndrome and had her at 35 weeks I didn’t even get to see her until she was a week old and I was out of the ICU as I was so unwell and she was in the children’s hospital down the road and I had to express my milk and my husband had to take it to the other hospital in a small syringe to give my daughter who I had not even seen yet!
