I've had three. All were Happy Clowns who liked everybody. Mine always wanted to get squirrels, but when we got a rabbit, I thought she'd get it....but no, once identified as a family member, she loved the rabbit.

They adore their owners but on the other hand, separation anxiety is also very common with Icelandic sheepdogs. You may need to train your puppy a lot to be left alone in the house.

Better--always, and this goes for most any breed (terrier may be the exception) is have a 2nd, companion dog. Dogs are not meant to be alone.

#JimQuatic Complete bullshit. Dogs where historically often alone, few where in packs, dogs can be happy and thrive on their own. This however is a dog with only working independence which is why it shouldn't be alone, hounds for example thrive on independence

They are no "lap dog". I felt very safe with my male KBT. He would make no bones about standing his ground while I walked him if someone seemed questionable. He was also a great guard dog and protector of my home back then in Chicago. I LOVED that although he wasn't too fond of dogs his size or smaller, he doggie friends were the local Doberman, Cane Corso, Rottweiller, Pointer and Malamute...He was a BIG DOG in a medium package. He was also VERY POPULAR with the kids in the neighborhood by securing the perimeter when they played nearby with a warning bark or growl if anyone other than their parents came near.

I love my own English setter. He’s a truly remarkable and loving dog. His stubbornness might be a problem sometimes and he can’t stay for hours alone but overall he’s an amazing dog. I’ll never regret adopting him three years ago and he’s still doing the distance at 13 years old, almost 14!!

I'm 79 and have a Min -- Pin she makes me smile from the time we get up till we go to bed at night . She never leaves my side and loves to be cuted . Great little pets .👍👍👍👍😄😄

Bert is something special. You are lucky to be with him. What a beautiful loving dog. We had Hans and Trudy growing up. Best dogs a boy could have. Rugged and adventurous when I was a kid on the ranch. O is for a happy childhood.
