Just did my vanos yesterday. If anyone sees this you can put your ear up to the front of the valve cover while car is running. If you hear any clanking noises in there, if you can tell its not just your lifters or something you will benefit from redoing your vanos. When vanos is good you should just hear a smooth chain/gear noise. I did mine and did anti-rattle kit and it quieted right down and has much more noticable low end torque. It was not throwing codes or anything I just could tell from driving similar HP cars, and from the noise this was making. As long as some dummy hasn't gummed up any bolts (like my PO did), its an extremely easy job and not too much money.

Oil pan gasket is quite a tedious job by itself, you've done great here. Raising and aligning the subframe was a bit of pain as the subframe and suspension components were moving in independent directions. I think I might have damaged the CCV drain tube while reinstalling the dipstick.. anyway, great video and good job. These cars are fun with the right mindset.

I did the same thing plus radiator and hoses water pump thermostat crank sensor intake sensor cam sensor and all control arms to my 2002 BMW 3.oi X5 At 300,000 miles and it's still running strong, don't forget about the cleaning the throttle body check valve and making sure the disa valve is working correctly And remember don't use China parts only OME.

I had same p0339 , I changed all the sensors , redid vanos, and it’s still throwing the code and also hard starting as well idk what can it be
@granitewheeler2 жыл бұрын
Same thing happened to me. Go to 16:35 in the video. You need to reset the VANOS so it re-learns the correct cam and crank positions. Buy the tool on amazon prime. If that doeesnt work, just return the tool. It worked for me.

@@granitewheeler can you elaborate, I’m looking at the maggi tvs1900. I have a spare 3.6 I was going to rebuild with rods and forged pistons
@granitewheeler2 жыл бұрын
@@TheSinisterSTi I would not bother with that level of rebuild unless you are going Prodigy turbo. The magnusson and the Edelbrock are heat soakers and the tune was never right. Doing it again, I would go with the RIPP XL because it retains the stock intake manifolds. The jeep runs a lot better with the stock setup, freer flowing intake and exhaust, and a custom 91 octane tune. I would buy used over new too. Call up one of the jeep V8 conversion places to see what they have in the pile of used superchargers.
