That's true as far as concerns the official MK series but this is a fan made game (it's called Mugen) and there are some new characters (like Noob/Scorpion) that are not present in the official series.

Yep,it's so eerie and tragic.Anyway,I guess Ari lives in a nightmarish dimension.Her parents are monsters,an obscure presence crawls behind the wall,some characters are sickos (her teacher and the man on the train in particular) and others are deeply depressed.Maybe all these elements could represent the uneasiness and the anxiety of being barely a teen,imho.Should be asked to the creator of the game to have confirmation.

The rest of their discog is insane too, especially the newer material. You might dig it.
