For all Martinez and Rizzo's talk about how good and exciting the Nats are becoming with their young players, they have actually regressed since last year's second half when they played about 500. Their offense is anemic. In a completely baffling move, they demote Meneses, their top RBI guy, and one of the few that hits with runners on. The experiment of bringing in a different beyond their prime player at first and third base every year has failed miserably. (Candelaria being the exception, but of course then they go ahead and trade him anyway). Until Rizzo goes out and actually signs decent players to these positions, with some power, the offense will struggle.
