Finally Colin is back to a GRC race!! Woohoo!! This was a race I thought skipping because I'm not doing the OMG World Tour and new challenges are up but I looked at the numbers, and it was obvious this was to race to do today on Rouvy, could't miss. Let's start from the beginning, when you have this many heavy hitters, you really need to bring the rocket boosters at the start. I started at 5-6 wkg but wasn't enough. Already down to 45th place. But luckily there were some late starters or people who thought a 5-6 wkg would be enough were there with me. We quickly formed a group of 20 riders or so and started going together. Couple riders spiced it up by unexpected bursts but overall it was a good draft train. Survive the tunnel exits, survive the corner brakes, otherwise there isn't much on this route you could get dropped. As we get closer to the finish we picked couple more riders that got dropped from the front, and the draft train even got bigger. Now that group you were watching around 49 minutes was in our sight. They were a group of 5, we were 20 and that helped us catch them right before the finish line in the end. 18th place for me, it was a field sprint of 23 riders right there. Good race folks!! See you on the next one!! Thank you for the coverage Colin.

haha. "those turbos, they just don't sound right"... there's no replacement for displacement. :) that speed difference on the finish... i'll tell ya, we saw them... then the 5 W/kg juice started kicking in. 😅

Kept the Top Guns for almost half way and then we formed a good 2nd group, I was proud I kept them till the end.

finally discovered the reason for my current Internet problems. My neighbour got an installation in the summer and the contractors connected through my junction box rather than preparing a separate one. For whatever reason - the connectors have shifted - causing a lot of network jitter and my speed being reduced from 1 Gbps to around 300 Mbps if lucky (plus several disconnects per hour). Original cabling for me is around 30 years old so they are going to redo everything for me. Will not be for a few weeks though which means that the next few races will be pointless (no drafting).
@insidecyclingworld3 күн бұрын
ouch well that's not good. Must be so many disconnects because I would be jumping for joy if I had 300Mbps! Yeah no draft in races there is really no point, it puts you at such a huge disadvantage

I think that if you win a race or even some in the Top 10 you should agree to have your total average watts output independent of weight for the race displayed for men i.e. 300, then people can see if they are racing light?
@insidecyclingworld7 күн бұрын
Yes I agree, I think all the data should be available. Then we can see the weight of the rider. There definitely are some very light weight riders out there . I am constantly figuring out weights when watching the races, and remember them for next time. Heart rate should be visible as well

Thanks for the group ride and the energy you put into your videos. I did try to connect on Discord in early 2024. It logged me in but I could not post comments. Unfortunately I’m no Mr IT (gold jewellery optional), so I don’t know what error I made, probably something stupidly simple. If you or anyone have any tips that could help? I’ll give it another try. I like the 2 cameras, you can see more of your pain cube. It gives better context.

Hi Colin, I’m Sandarac (ROUVY). I need to add some of these to my ROUVY bucket list. I have a Kickr Core which only manages 16%, so the reality will be compromised on some climbs. You mention other platforms but not FulGaz. I don’t think it has racing but for reality it looks very good. Perhaps you could do a review?
@insidecyclingworld8 күн бұрын
Hey Sandarac, thanks for watching and great riding with you again yesterday in New Zealand. 16% will cover the majority of climbs, so all good. I just always wonder what would say 22% feel like at the end of a climb. Fulgaz...I had it on the tip of my tongue. Videos do look really well done, quality racing action. I look at it more as solo training, its the same but different from the others. I will see if they have a trial version to have a better look at.

@insidecyclingworld14 күн бұрын

@@insidecyclingworld Ok, so probably it was possible in the past, before they updated their system. But currently there is no way to do that. Interesting story and one I’d never heard of. Not sure about trying to frame the boyfriend, kinda feel she wouldn’t have used her own gun if that was the case, or her own car? Just a horrible story of someone’s jealousy ruining so many people’s lives. Really enjoyed this though, you do have a natural and easy to listen to delivery so please make more. Length was just about perfect to keep me engaged as well (as you know we as people nowadays want a sound bite or a reel type thing for our short attention spans!😏). What to do next? I don’t know. But maybe keep it cycling for now till the news networks come knocking!!

Great race coverage as always, thank you for making the experience more spectacular, in relation to my performance, great race, very tough, I made a good climb (for me), right at the top when I was almost catching the two riders in front of me, the internet went down, I lost the two in front and was overtaken by the two behind me, then in the plan for not be pushing alone, I waited for those riders who were chasing me and with their help we reached the end. That was my race, it was my fourth consecutive day of racing, the tiredness was already too much, but it's always giving the better.

Carlos, great riding as usual! I knew something happened because you were chasing Si and Jakub very hard and the gap was down to 5 seconds. When it came back it was out to 25 seconds and then I saw you finish very strong. Bad timing for a "mechanical", see you next time friend.
