Essentially you're getting chorus or flange without using chorus or flange (delay lines). I would still save time and record once with either a Wet/Dry setup (dry signal on left, wet on right or vice versa), or Wet/Dry/Wet with Wet panned hard left/right, and dry in the center speaker or mixed in the center w/ left and right speakers. Vary the delay lines (whether it's chorus/flange, reverb/delay/echo) between right and left with different speakers between left and right. No right or wrong way here, just more tools to have in the bag for the flavor you want.

@primroseproductionsmusic
@primroseproductionsmusic 10 күн бұрын
That’s kinda hard to answer because I don’t necessarily have generalized descriptors of what a shit sound is, and it’s gonna be different for every instrument. For guitars? I don’t want it too thin or harsh sounding, nice full midrange without being too muddy. For bass? I want to hear that upper mid bite as well as a nice full low end. For drums? I want the drums to be tuned well and hit right, lots of top end attack with a huge bottom end

Honest question- is this an ideal guitar tone? My immediate gut says it's muddy and inarticulate, but I also have no idea what I'm trying to do here- is this what I should aspire to or should i go for something tighter/lower gain/more focused?

Even better: Use two different guitars, different amps, different tones in general.

Changing the tone creates a different effect. Same tone creates a stereo effect but different tones are obviously two different takes hard panned left and right. Imo, same tone sounds much better. It creates a fuller tone that sounds like one guitar with stereo effects. Different tones compete for attention and it’s distracting to me.

Not quite the same thing. It can work in a pinch, but there's a huge difference between a set short delay and two entirely separate tracks with their own subtle timing, dynamics, etc. Unless it's entirely not an option, it's typically best to have two separately recorded guitar tracks.

OK, but what actually makes a good bass metal guitar tone? What tips do you have for making it click into place perfectly with the guitar tone to create a massive sound?
@primroseproductionsmusic
@primroseproductionsmusic Ай бұрын
“Make it click into place perfectly with the guitar tone” THAT is exactly the problem. You should not be dialing in the bass to blend with the guitars, you should be dialing in the guitars to blend with the bass. Everyone needs to stop recording guitar first, that’s the real problem; guitarists are doing most of the writing (and, let’s be real, usually have massive egos) so they spend forever dialing in their guitar tone to make it the focal point, but that’s what gives people bad results. Get the drum sound first, then dial in the bass to blend with the drums, then dial in the guitar to blend with the bass and drums

I have 2 vintage 30’s from 2022. One made in February and one made in August. They are different from recent years that I have compared them to. The speaker cone material is more “transparent” I guess. Don’t know if this is the reason for the different sound or not. I think after 2022 the speakers are back to the old material prior to 2022

honest question: why don't you use the solo button instead of the mute button to compare tracks? You get an annoying silence between the switching of the tracks, while using the solo button you could just switch between both to have an instant "feeling" of the difference. honest question, no offence, thanx for sharing your thoughts anyway. Why not just use Instrument tracks? It's already a MIDI and Aux track. You could put the MIDI file and Trigger 2 to the one track, instead of making a MIDI and Aux track for each drum. When you're done getting the MIDI file from the Kick/Snare track, you could just drag the same instance of Trigger 2 (already loaded with the sample you chose) from the original audio track to the Instrument track, or am I missing something?

I'd have gone 2 Hesu...I was thinging of building a cab with 2 demons and 2 Thompsons, Is there some kind of switch that would allow you to run different combos (running the cab as either type in 2x12, or one each 2x12, or all 4 at once) that would be like having 4 different cabs in 1 unit.... probably a stupid question but ive never had a proper cab.
@raytorvalds3699
@raytorvalds3699 3 ай бұрын
@@johanjotun1647 There is no such thing as a stupid question. It's possible, but you will have to keep impedance in mind and switch your amp's impedance output accordingly. Some amps have switches for that, some amps have different jack outputs for 4/8/16 Ohms. I hope that helps. The reason I went with a V30 and a Hesu Demon is because I think they blend very well. I wanted that over 2 Hesu Demons.
