Interesting. I just bought some of this material but haven’t used it yet. Thanks for the ideas. I wish it had been available when I was still able to fish. Now I tie to donate to Project Healing Waters mostly for pond fishing. This could be used in the salt in a longer version as a seaworm. Striped bass would go nuts for it.

Yes. I tie a palolo worm using this technique.

Yes, good one. I tie mine with an under body of glow thread and use it to build up a hump or bulge like a grub, and then cover with twisted wool yarn. It’s basically a killer bug, but with a curved nymph hook. These patterns will catch hundreds of fish, with either conventional fly rod or Tenkara.

100% The Golden Pheasant tail barbs also have more pronounced follicles and thicker barbs than Ringneck. The barbs and follicles on the Amherst tail are typically even larger than the Golden Pheasant, which are great for larger bugs.

Is that real surgical suture material (Chromic Catgut 0)? If so what are the magic characteristics of that material? I would guess you might be able to substitute Maxima leader material or small Swanadaze?
@flytyingzonedavehiseАй бұрын
Yes, it is. I have a friend 😅 It is opaque, solid-colored when dry, and becomes milky translucent and shiny when wet. When submerged in water, it becomes very soft and stretchable. As it soaks in water, its volume also increases, giving a plump appearance to the fly. The most amazing benefit of using this material is the way it looks in water. It has a lifelike texture and super-high shine. By using colors underneath for the underbody, different effects can be achieved as the color peaks through the wet material.
