does this work if you are running an external battery for power? I tried this on two separate flights and got no audio. Any ideas?

I have done so and it worked for me, using powered usb C into the media mod

I tried it and it worked but the audio from the video comes out as “mono” (you can only hear it from one side of your use headphones) do you know why?

@@maxgo23 aircraft audio is generally mono. Just adjust it in the edit - switch the audio track to mono, or duplicate the single track and set it to left or right.

I re-watched your video and found out need it to also adjust setting on the GoPro. Honest answer is I’m not sure, the issue with 360s is generally you will see the cable - have you considered using a second recorder just for audio?

@@parkittdynoandsuspension camera was GoPro 10, coms was recorded via a 1/8” Jack to XLR and a Zoom F6 field recorder - so audio recorded separately and then added in editing

I would think steam guages would be more reliable and cheaper to repair, that and GPS gets jammed and has outages all the time. Old school is best.

'Steam gauges' are mechanical so prone to failures, and we are still using GPS for navigation, I'm not too worried about jamming in the center of the UK when I'm flying VFR. The both have their pros and cons

Should try the g1000nxi with synthetic vision.. Doing instrument approaches coupled.. Stormscope. Flight stream 510. Its all about reducing work load

G1000 and the more modern avionics definitely gives you a bit more situational awareness when flying instrument but there's no reason why you can't fly steam gauges instrument either (flew both during my instrument training). For me the thing that's nice during instrument flying it simplifies your scan. Your DG combines the CDI, has a GNSS heading purple indicator, so its much easier to maintain your course when hand flying.

Once you get used to the digital displays and how easy they are to read, gain information and the situational awareness you get you will not want to go back to steam gauges. IMC and low viz flying is transformed. I was the same when I transitioned to full glass cockpit.

You guys in the UK definitely like to talk. All these basic service calls repeating your location information and new squawk every time. It's almost as bad as being off centreline at times 😂. I heard you guys might be joining us in having something closer to flight following so controllers coordinate using these fancy things called computers soon.

Those newfangled computers!!! The video was edited so you don’t get the long sections of boring silence, and we do have different levels of ATC, but north Wales is quite hilly so radar coverage is poor at low level. But thanks for the comment 🤗

Caa website consultations. They are asking for feedback on standardising to match ICAO based FIS service which is essentially closer to flight following overseas.

Hi Wayne, I enjoyed the video, thanks. You look much more relaxed in the cockpit nowadays, and Jack looks so laid back I'd fly with him. I do have a bone to pick with Jack though.... RT! I'd feel more comfortable if he used correct RT. How about 'Traffic not sighted', and readbacks in the correct order? Am I correct, he is an Instructor, so should have be up to speed with CAP413? I challenge you both to go through the vid and critique the RT 😉.

This was actually back in September. Jack is a LAPL instructor in his spare time :-), but was not flying as such, but like most pilots and even ATC we do vary from CAP 413 from time to time, which is why these are not being billed as instructional videos. I’ve never found anyone who follows CAP413 exactly all of the time.

Yes, there are times when we deviate or even resort to plain English, but standard calls and responses should be reasonable at times of low workload. I totally get that the vids are for entertainment but anyone with a FRTOL should set a good example 😉. As I said, I'd happily fly with Jack, he gives off good vibes.

Funny. I thought that as well. Always has an Approach right of Center line and from a long way out as well all the way in no matter which way the wind is blowing. I would love to see the Sky Demon Tracks. I was wondering if its a camara angle thing but it cant be. However if it works why change and most of the landings end up better than mine.

The most alarming part about this is how you refer to the extended centreline as if it’s a widening of the centreline. You know the extended centreline is just the centreline beyond the end of the rwy, right?
