I think you find it is not a scottish song, but written by John Newton in 1772 a Curate from Olney Buckinghamshire! Published 1779!

Pretty Yende is "proudly South African", just our best "export!!". Her performance is just "MAGIC!!". Kudos to the French for asking her to perform. I am sure they were not disappointed. In fact, none of us were! Very profound and meaningful song!! I can only shed tears as I am typing this!!

Pretty Yende is a small town girl from South Africa who has proved to be a world class soprano. She is very humble and lives up to her name. She speaks several languages - but it's her voice that gives one the chills.

In America we have freedom of speech freedom of religion. Those two are the most impotent of our country. Worship how & wherever we choose. Bishop your ego was talking not God, using your pulpit to throw shade back at those who may have twisted your statement isn’t of god but of man. You could have handle this issue from another place than the church. You only sought validation through your congregation instead of extend the true nature of Christ which is to love. You may not care about the opinions of Roland Martin or any other religious leader? That’s fine. Ask yourself if Christ would have put his detractors on blast? Those who criticize him for his words? You can validate your argument by hearing the amens of other’s, or you can just love forgive & judge less. God bless you !
