I have a pellet insert in my fireplace, and a hot water pellet boiler, I saw this and had to have it, ill use it to heat up my 3 car garage while I'm working on a car. My torpedo heater just stopped working and instead of sinking money and time into it, I figured i have plenty of pellets, so why not have a outdoor pellet stove. Now its time for me to try my stove out.

I have the X3 as well and just getting it all setup, so no fermentations have happened yet. Two things caught my eye, the bottom connection you used for CIP. Would be interesting see what you have in place, as I would like to recreate. The same goes for your aeration setup. I'm all new to using conicals, but have been brewing all grain for 20+ years!

Do you have a preference over F40 or X3?
@PortlyGentleman23 күн бұрын
I do pretty complicated though lol In short, they are both awesome. Out of everything I've used. they are the best available in my opinion. Little things need to be considered the 3-in port is awesome but it's a 3-in port. You're going to have to get an adapter to hook up a hose for CIP. If you're looking at doing 5 gallon volume I would go X3 all day long. If you're into what brewtools is doing especially the upcoming control system. The go that way or even better yet one of each 🍻
@joecotnoir987023 күн бұрын
@PortlyGentleman i do 5 gallon batch (well 5.6 into the fermentor). I liked the 30psi rating on the f40 but the x3 is looking better after reading up on it.

Another great video thank you Personally I would be disappointed with the plastics used when paying top prices for quality equipment. The biggest issue I have with these fermenters is that there's no graduation marks to tell you how much you actually have in them but otherwise fantastic equipment which should last a lifetime. Hopefully they will provide a solution to this one day. :)
@wickedbeernutАй бұрын
I agree with respect to the plastics. I'll gladly spend the extra money for stainless steel. The new Brewtools Fermentation / Fluid Control System (which will be released this year) will have an optional level/volume sensor. The level/volume will be displayed on the FCS 5" touchscreen display (and, of course, can be accessed remotely). A near-production version of the FCS will be shown at BrauBeviale from November 26 - 28 in Nuremberg. 👍
@paulrobertson9439Ай бұрын
@@wickedbeernut That's a very expensive piece of kit I would bet but all I want to do is to know how much wort is in the tank Even the cheapest possible plastic fermenting buckets have this ability. I can only assume that I'm not the only person who feels this way. Surely they could use one of the many spare ports to connect a simple sight glass to which would solve the problem at a very reasonable cost but I suspect that's not going to happen and I will have to continue with my home made graduated dip stick haha :)
@PortlyGentlemanАй бұрын
I get what you're saying the POK components are different. Having said that, the valves feel honestly in the hand better than stainless steel. And trust me, I've got a lot of stainless steel. As far as the lid again, it really doesn't matter. It's just a lid. That's just my honest opinion. As far as the indications of volume within, that's one that I don't even consider.. I usually know exactly how much wart I have produced 🍻
@wickedbeernutАй бұрын
@@paulrobertson9439 Brewtools has said the base FCS kit will cost 500 €. You're essentially getting temperature and pressure control. This includes, in part, the touchscreen display, I/O module, temperature sensor, pressure sensor, solenoid valves and an electronic spunding valve. The electronic spunding valve is brilliant. It's essentially just a polycarbonate glass airlock sitting on top of a solenoid valve. Of course, the FCS includes other optional accessories such as an electronic or pneumatic HopDrop, stirrer, ... By far the most exciting accessory is the tuning fork density sensor. I predict the Brewtools FCS is going to be extremely popular at this price point.

Thank you for addressing the topic of minimum recommended volume. I think the Brewtools F40 and F80 advertised minimum recommended volume of 20L is misleading. As you're aware, Brewtools is working on larger Pro F-series unitanks that will be both fully-jacketed and fully-insulated ... both cylinder and cone. Brewtools has expressed a willingness to at least consider offering the Pro F-series in smaller sizes. This is the ultimate answer to a small minimum recommended volume. We need to community to share their interest in this type of unitank with Brewtools.
@PortlyGentlemanАй бұрын
I 100% agree. I have a feeling there will be a jacket solution for the bottom of the cones for the 40 and 80 here very soon. I would obviously be insulated in a fully jacketed and fully glycol jacketed plus insulated cone tank.
@wickedbeernutАй бұрын
@@PortlyGentleman Thanks for the reply, Bradley. Just so we're on the same page ... I'm not talking about a goofy cone-shaped TPU soft cooling jacket wrapped around the cone of an F40 or F80. Brewtools is proposing a "Pro" F40 or F80 with double-wall stainless steel construction, foam insulation (between the two stainless steel walls), cooling in both the vertical and horizontal wall and dimple cooling for high pressure. This is more analogous to the Ss Brewtech Pro Unitanks. No more goofy neoprene jacket. 👍

@wickedbeernut oh I was talking about that. It's definitely a solution that will work for many. I wouldn't have any advance knowledge of future Brewtools products. 🍻🍻

Thanks Bradley for the perfectly timed video. Currently considering the F80 and the Brewbuilt x3. One of the major things i was concerned about is the cone size and contact with the jacket cooling area. Brewtools document the cone size and recommended min batch size. You’ve now cleared up the fact that 25l is pretty much minimum batch size. Efficiency of cooling will be very low given glycol chiller losses and the low contact area of the wort. I will wait for x3 details but maybe the fermzilla flexibility is where I should stay if I wish to do the odd single batch size. Cheers.

I 100% understand if you're looking for raw performance on a full full volume . BrewTools will be extremely hard to beat. As far as the minimum, obviously we've established. It's not the best.. I think they're working on a alternative solution to go around the cone 🍻

@@PortlyGentleman It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the F40 vs the BrewBuilt X3. They appear to be similarly priced and have comparable features/capabilities? I am currently using a Blichmann 7 gallon fermenter. I like that it has sturdy handles that I can use to lift it into my Coke display refrigerator that I use as a fermentation chamber. But I guess if I had a jacket fermenter and a glycol chiller, I would never miss the handles. 🙂
