@adrienkulig thank you Adrien😊🙏...great to meet you too. Gosh yes, it was super hot wasn't it - unusually so! I believe they had water supply / access issues (again unfortunately) which really didn't help & sadly caused many to dnf. Yes, I'm really looking forward to this year - with a little intrepidation - as I'm doubling the distance to the UTS100 😵💫😬. Looking forward to seeing you too - Registration area (?) and of course - the Finish Line 😁🤞🍀

What a great video of the race! I’m doing the marathon next year, and looking forward to it! I do have a quick question, the road from the Youth Hostel to the start line ( Pen Y Pass) can you drive along there in the morning of the race?
@ManagingMarathons10 күн бұрын
@Gez-C thank you...very kind. The short answer is 'yes' but depends when. Definitely OK night before (I was actually staying IN the YHA at Pen-y-Pass (also recommended), but on the morning of the race, I wouldn't advise. As it's closed early for marshals/ officials and race start. Very Good Luck🍀🤞it really is one of my favourite marathons!!

I'd be interested in how much this costs approximately. I'm doing my first marathon in March in my home country, but a second marathon abroad would be cool. Very informative video!
@ManagingMarathonsАй бұрын
@MrSmokedTurkey thank you very kind. The honest short answer is "it depends". I'm doing x12 Marathons in 12 months to raise funds for kids with Cancer, so I'm very budget conscious. The truth is you CAN do it for far less than most people spend if you research and plan properly ahead of time. You do.*not* need to stay in high-end hotels, take taxi's everywhere, and eat out for all meals. That's how costs escalate rapidly!! I've been asked this a few times (re. Costs) so I'll make a video about it soon. I talk a little / few tips on costs on Berlin & Chicago marathon video's (hostels & bicycles) have a look. Which one were you thinking about ? Sooo many to choose from@
@MrSmokedTurkeyАй бұрын
@ManagingMarathons looking forward to that video, already brought up some good points 😅 My first marathon will be in Ghent in March. I'm not sure yet about the marathon abroad, I'm open to suggestions!
@ManagingMarathonsАй бұрын
@MrSmokedTurkey I've not run it personally. Though, swift online search suggest it's fast and flat, and well organised with several 5-star reviews. Again that word 'depends' what you're looking for. If you like 'destination marathons', search the City you'd like to visit (favourites tend to be, Seville, Valencia, Barcelona (I've done the 3 Spanish ones - all fabulous!!) Paris, Rome, Vienna, Prague, Athens (where it all started!!). For UK spectacular scenery (and elevation!) I'd recommend Eryri and Loch Ness. Non of the above include the World Majors, they *are* expensive, and you need to plan 2 years ahead - at least.
@NTSBcarlosАй бұрын
Hello Sir! I just got selected to run in 2025 and i can't wait for it! Thank you for your reporting efforts. I've watched every single video and I'm gonna use some of your advices! My plan is to run it sub 4 hours. I think it will be the very last starting zone right? Do you recommend pacemaker help or should i stick to my race and try to pace myself? Is there a pacemaker for 3:50-4:00? I'm sure I saw some 3:45 ones. I've never ran with a pacemaker before. Again thanks for your contribution i really appreciate it!
@ManagingMarathonsАй бұрын
@NTSBcarlos that's amazing!! Super Congratulations 🎊 👏 🥂🍾Berlin is an amazing race!!... is this your first marathon?
@ManagingMarathonsАй бұрын
@NTSBcarlos so, if it's your very first marathon - you will of course get a PB ('Personal Best') time😊. Your marathon Finish time, will depend on many factors; your age, Fitness levels, experience & mileage run, type of course (Berlin is great - Flat & Fast), the weather has a big impact. Then also, general factors; stress levels (outside of running), amount of Sleep, your diet - nutrition and hydration generally. 'IF' it's your very first marathon, you can use apps like Starva pace calculator www.strava.com/running-pace-calculator ... if you've run a 5k or 10k (or half marathon already) you can input your time, and it will give you an approximate Marathon finish time. Also, read my Facebook article Top 20 Tips on running your First marathon facebook.com/share/p/nQWpjjzDFs15wP3v/ Very Good Luck🙏. Message me on Facebook group too, lots of info there too😊
@NTSBcarlosАй бұрын
@ManagingMarathons yes my first one, i think i will pick between pacers at Wave 3 - 3:45 or Wave 4 - 3:45. My half-marathon PB is 1:41:45, but i know marathon is a different bread, especially when i'm running for the first time.
@ManagingMarathonsАй бұрын
@NTSBcarlos so, I would consider having an A, B, and C goal / objective. Example; A = Sub 04:00 B = Sub 04:30 C = To Finish !! * this way, from a mindset perspective - you stay positive whatever your goal. Remember, just *getting to the Start* line, fit, well & healthy (injury free) is an achievement🙏😊

Thanks for the upload and for sharing your experience. I ran the 2024 edition too. My thoughts in no particular order. Course is beautiful, in my modest up opinion (I've only run 8 marathons) one of the most beautiful there is. It was hot. Hoter than average for that time of the year but future editions might be just as hot so something to consider if you do your training in milder climate. After the starting line in Nice, there was zero energy coming from the crowd. I thought it was very strange because people did come to support but they were very quiet. However crowd support picked up from km 30 probably when it's more needed. Crowds were great in Antibes and in Cannes. Elevation is a bit of a mystery. Organisers say it's+70m. Strava says it's 120m but it felt more than that. Maybe it's because it's dead flat for the first 25k and it's hilly in the second/harder part of the race? All in all, i thought it was great, well organized and I'd definitely recommend it
@lhofayz2 ай бұрын
😊Thank you - a great, and accurate reflection on the Alpes-Maritime Nice-Cannes marathon indeed! Congratulations on your 8 marathons - that's fantastic!! Let me know which others - and if any more planned? Yes, I wholeheartedly agree with the elevation - it rises fairly steeply at 28-29km, then again at 37-39km - and studying the elevation profile, the entire route is little 'ups & downs' all along - with the exception of the first 6km heading to the airport. My Coros has exactly 150m elevation (which is double 70m!). Yes, crowd support at Start, Antibes and Finish - absolutely fabulous😁- but very patchy support in between - particularly that very long stretch adjacent to the railway line - crickets! (I will be taking headphones next year😁). That said, it's a stunning route, the Start Line was lively and entertaining, the Finishers 'Village' was wonderful - lot's of space to relax and refreshments. Well organised as a marathon from The Expo, through to bag collection at the end, and the free Train shottle back to Nice (although, understandably very busy!).

I didn't realize the circuit was so short either! Apparently 78 Laps they do in a race - so full respect to the drivers, it must be very hard work! Gosh, Michael Jackson!! OMG Yes!! ... I remember - that's got to be 2 decades ago ?! Lovely to go back again - it's hardly changed, well, except for six hectares (!!) being added (reclaimed from the sea) onto the total size of the Principality - to create yet more space for property & retail!! Interesting video. I've run Eryri Marathon twice and am hoping that 2025 will be no. 3. However, just to correct a point, neither Eryri or Yr Wyddfa were renamed, they just chose to use their traditional Welsh names first, instead of their English names. Then the video editing was a bit chaotic, you had the traffic issue in Beddgelert, then you went back to Mile 10, on to Mile 13, back to traffic in Beddgelert around Mile 12.5, then onto 30km, before heading back to Mile 14, to name a few. Would be better in the order of the race.
