You are correct about the Latin. Did you know that personal ownership of a Bible was illegal in Italy until 1870? Thanks to the power of Roman Catholicism. How dare anyone think for themselves. There is one soul per customer and no one messes with mine. I have done enough of that to myself. I will stick to traditional hymns and some Southern Gospel. I also listen to John Michael Talbot, Keith Green and a few others. I am selective. The one thing of utmost importance to me is I do not confuse a true move of the Holy Spirit with too much bass and too much volume. When that truly is the case what is wrong with simply saying "I had a good time?"

Thank you for this message. I always learn so much from your sermons. My Bible study group is doing a study on the book of John and it really put into perspective John 10. My only regret is you stopped recording before I got to hear Spencer's song.

Wow, what a beautiful insightful message. Insightful, entertaining, troubling, scary, alarming, unavoidable, surreal, … a little sad. I often say, I feel time is the most precious commodity we possess because we’re just a mist and then gone.

It’s validating to hear, as I’ve said to so many people over the years, God wants one thing from us … a relationship. Great message!

Wow Spencer that was amazing…your story about the judge made this so relatable. You made not just your Don dad proud, but your eternal Father was cheering you on as well! And can I just say (apologize ahead of time) that you have the same gene as your dad that makes me laugh and enjoy listening to this podcast. “Crap” you are funny 🤣. And one of these days I would like to meet “Glen”…as often as your dad and you refer to him, that dude has got some broad shoulders 🤣 Before I even started the video I saw that yours was 37 minutes. Dang…I guess us old guys (referring to your dad…not me) need to learn from the younger generation how to be more efficient with our words. Just kidding Don…that 1 plus hour you take every week is one of my favorite parts of the week when I have a chance to listen in. I just hoping that they let a sunburned old guy behind the pulpit again. Love you bro….Rob Smucker

My personal preference is hymns, although it used to be modern contemporary. As long as a contemporary song is uplifting to God and is not written by a known heretical music group then I don't have a problem with it. There are many hymns that are bad too, but over time with Bible scholars, poets, and musicians who have made our hymnals they mostly have weeded out the bad ones. I don't like any song that is overly repetitive because I find it annoying and scripture actually warns against doing that too.

I’m just confused about how you got footage of Sweet Home from the air in that opening, it was cool. :P I’mma listen to the message about “this too shall pass” when it’s uploaded, that sounds interesting.

When you said most horrific story in the Bible I called this passage. Nonetheless, I forgot how heart-wrenching that story is. I think every time I read or hear it that story gets worse, for that matter it just gets worse and worse the further and further you read through it. 😅😥 Makes me sad, how twisted the human heart is. It’s not surprising to me, not at all, but it does make me sad.

As I (Don) read it again this week, I was shocked at how so much of the cruelty within this story can still be seen so easily all around us today.

As a worship musician, I see stage technology as an evangelical tool. My first time in a Christian church was the day I stepped into Greg Lauries church in Riverside, California. I remember being shocked by the skill of the musicians, the great sound system, the lighting, and how the stage set up was all so well done that it was EASIER to focus on the words and the message of the songs. I had no idea people could worship to electric instruments. AND DRUMS! I loved a worship style that had met me where I was as a musician myself. If that church had used nothing but the band's personal amps on stage to fill the building and then used only harsh white lighting on the band, knowing me, I would have probably been focused on every note from the instruments and watching fingers, and focusing on the players. There is something about a polished production that lets me take my focus off the band, and into worship. On the other hand, those laser show/fog machine stages I see on KZbin are sensory overload in what should be my time of worship. They go from being the bridge between me and worship to being a show in which I am merely a spectator instead of a participant. The worship leader at the church I played at years later once told us - We are meant to be a bridge. If they are watching you, instead of worshipping, we are doing it wrong. We had all the colored lights and a top of the line sound system. But always, the focus was Jesus there. It was pretty neat.

I’ve been repeating to myself “you will pass through the fire and not be harmed”, it’s a paraphrase of Isaiah 43:2 which is a reassuring verse for these days, but even so I must admit I’m afraid of all the uncertainty.
