I want to believe, but...some people leave in small cities, towns, where is mo gay community, where your friends and family are straight or closeted, and the society is not gay friendly...in such situation grindr seems to be the only option...so what to do then? Is moving far away the only way??
@AnOlderGayGuyShow
@AnOlderGayGuyShow 21 күн бұрын
I think every town is going to be different. Some will be more close-minded and that oppression will always be a part of a gay person's experience there. In others, maybe there are enough open-minded folks that things begin to change. But change takes time. When I was first out in gay bars in the 1970's, they were behind blacked out windows and doors, there was no sign. It was hidden. But in 50 years now, the gay world is a much more open place. Gay bars are going out of business because we are so integrated into regular society that they don't need special bars for gay clientele. But for those older now, still either stuck or choosing to remain in these small town areas....maybe yeah, maybe moving is the only choice. But I know it will take you far away from your family home. I wish you the best of luck. Thanks for watching and commenting! ~Joey

That's very kind of you to say. It is easier than you might think. I've got a bit of powder on to stop the shine and to balance my skin tones, then the rest of it is really lighting. When people get old they tend to want to take photos in more darkness, thinking it will hide their age. You really need to do the opposite. More light means less imperfection shows. Most 'influencers', especially the older ones know to use a lot of light. But I thank you for the kind words! ~Joey

I had a 27 year relationship and lost my partner? Now in my early 60's I can't find anyone that wants permanence? The older guys my age or a little younger want the young bucs/twinks and the young ones can't decide what they want? Yes a Daddie if he will keep them as a toy and they don't need to work. I have news I can do that but I refuse to have them love me because of the free ride? And the ones older than me they just are not worth pursuing? So I guess I have to face realty that I will be alone and sexless till I close my eyes here also?
@AnOlderGayGuyShow
@AnOlderGayGuyShow 5 ай бұрын
I'm so sorry you lost your partner. 27 years is an amazing relationship and I'm sure the memories will carry you through the rest of your life. Dating when older is a very difficult thing. Def don't settle for a boy toy that wants to be taken care of. You are better than that. Socialize as much as you can. Expand your group of friends (I go into bars and just start saying 'hello' to guys, as odd as they may think of me). If you have a lot of friends, maybe they will know of someone, or maybe you will just find a guy while hanging out with your friends. If your response is that you don't have many friends, then that is where you begin. My best wishes to you, and thank you for commenting, Henry. ~Joey

Im 50 from india...looking for gay soulmate from ages...but all want only sexx...thats sad.....no emotions feelings
@AnOlderGayGuyShow
@AnOlderGayGuyShow 5 ай бұрын
I'm sorry you are finding out that most men are indeed out for just sex these days. It is true. However, I think that drastically changes in men over 50. Often they are tired of hooking up, meaningless sex and they want to settle down as they become aware of getting older and that time is limited. Loneliness becomes much more prevalent. Are you seeking out a mate who is in his 50's? Or perhaps you are searching out guys that are in their 40's or younger; those that still have the 'hooking up' attitude? I can't speak of life in India, but here, if you are in your 50's, it easier to find guys looking for relationships in that same age group. Unfortunately, many have become jaded, they go out and drink way too much and end up being sad sitting at the end of the bar. And online dating for the 50+ community is rare, it seems. ~Joey

It is def hard to find the right guy. As I've said, I had given up and then I met my husband when I was 54. It might help to expand your age criteria a bit. Maybe even someone a few years older than you. You'll find it difficult to also find someone into fitness like you are, and what would happen if the guy was fit, but then once settled down decided to back off on fitness somewhat? If they gain weight (as almost all do), is that ok with you? Personally, I am the one into fitness and my husband is sporadic with it. But I don't mind because I kinda like being the fitness guy in the relationship. Good luck with it. Make sure you socialize a lot, and keep a positive, friendly outlook. The 'Fake It til you Make It' is really designed for the average person that does not deal with other behavioral issues. Since your OCD turns it into a compulsion, that is beyond what I could give advice on. You really should speak to a therapist regarding these issues so that you can find effective ways to navigate through these behaviors. My best to you. ~Joey

I slightly disagree. I met my first LTR online. In the wake of COVID, bars are not as a good a place to meet guys as they were 10 years ago. If you are looking in a place like San Francisco you might find Mr.Right by joining LGBTQ organizations. 🌈
@AnOlderGayGuyShow
@AnOlderGayGuyShow 6 ай бұрын
I still keep hope that bars will pick up again. There are simply too many guys who are approaching middle-age that do not want to go the internet route. To me, that is a younger person's method. The number of senior citizen LGBTQIA+ individuals is increasing dramatically, and I think the internet is too quick to dismiss older guys, so they grow weary of rejection. But I agree, LGBTQIA+ organizations are great places to meet guys. Thanks for your comment, Arlo! ~Joey

Hmm. Not sure. Might depend on the severity of the OCD. My particular OCD is odd. I have to have certain things lined up in a geographic pattern. I can get around that if I need to. But another is window blinds all have to be set exactly the same distance down the window. Drives me crazy if one is off. Sometimes Paco closes the blinds at night. If one is different from the others, I literally cannot sleep if I don't fix it. I have to get up and keep fixing it until it is right. Also, I eat in a very specific way. All foods are consumed evenly so there is never one food more on my plate. I've done this since I was a kid. My point in telling you all that is that Paco noticed some of these things within a couple of days of meeting him. I could not hide it if I tried. So that is why I say it depends on the severity of the OCD and who you are trying to hide it from. But these days, admitting to mental health issues is an acceptable, even brave thing to do. Society has come a long way with it all. Hope that helps! Thank you for the comment. ~Joey

Boy, back then I used to write letters to TV shows quite a bit, and while you may not have gotten a response from a star, you would always gets a response. I wrote to KQED about "Upstairs Downstairs" and I got a lot of photos. I write KBHK about the late night TV moster movie host "The Ghoul" and I got pictures sent back. It was really something back then because it took an effort to write a letter, find the address, get the stamps and mail it and if you were lucky, a few weeks later you'd get a real handwritten or typed response. I wrote authors and toy companies and celebrites (who never personally answered of course). But before email and the internet, it was really special. My mom was a secretary and was a big "letter to the editor" writer, so I copied her. I think the internet has really cheapened contacting people when it takes almost no effort on the part of the writer at all to Twitter or email or Instagram, etc etc etc....(btw, I lived in the San Francisco area, so the channels I mentioned were local channels before cable of course. At least we couldn't afford it).

Writing letters like that are a lost art. I did write to a few stars back in those days, but as bad as the internet can be, I have found myself following and even messaging back-and-forth with secondary players or lesser known stars that I never would have had a chance to talk to (to type to) them without the magical computer keys. Did you ever receive a reply back from a star that you could tell was actually written and/or signed themselves? And who did you get? Thanks for the comment, Paula! ~Joey

A National Trust property that was used for exteriors of original DYNASTY. Sure you would enjoy it as great minds seem to run together. Speaking of which, if you enjoy Pro Wrestling, today starting at 1 PM eastern WWE Crown Jewel is streaming on Peacock 🦚. I will be watching for a HOT💪 L A KNIGHT!

Thank you for the compliment! I have been to LA a few times. Yeah, seeing the Dynasty mansion would be awesome. Can't say I'm a fan of WWE. I do watch some college wrestling, but I never got into Pro-Wrestling. Not sure why. ~Joey

There is a great record album of the music from Dark Shadows, including of course 'Quentin's Theme'. It is available in iTunes and other music purchase apps. Thanks so much for the comment, Rick! ~Joey

@@AnOlderGayGuyShow I told you I was OLDER than you! I still have a 6 foot long MAGNAVOX console stereo and have 2 copies of the Original 33RPM Album! Also love the black and white physique shot. At one point I was almost competition level bodybuilder! 💪 🏳️‍🌈 👍

It used to be a residence hall for Salve Regina University. The students who lived there must have had a ball.

They kinda trashed it a bit. I guess there was a fair amount of damage, especially to the woodwork.

@@nassauguy48 I don't think they should have ever rented it out like that. Once you didn't want to use it for awhile, close the house or do something better than letting a bunch of 18-21 year olds take over the place. It was just a dormitory. Maybe the school could have used it as offices or classrooms, but not a dormitory. Thanks for your comments. ~Joey

Thanks fro such great topic which i actually goes thru. i feel lonely, and especially when i see other gays that are acting more than living. i simply want to share my devotion for our community by being generous, not trying to make myself accepted by other gays folks ? How would they feel being treated like such themselves ? We have to recognize that some gays are not as out or accomplished than they would like and are looking for friendship or connection. It is our duty to see those signs from other folks and to response with our heart and welcome them or at least acknowledging their attempt to make a contact, by just demonstrating kindness and feedback as we all belong to the same threatened species... ☀💕 no ones should pretend to be more gay than others, where that would lead us anyways within our groups ? levels, hierarchies, ranks... can we be just happy gays and dont make it complicated !! 😇😁

Yes, we lost Lara. She was such a force in keeping DS alive at conventions, and continuing the stories through her DS novels. I will miss her. Thanks for the comment, @Tradde11@tradde11 ~Joey

What a fantastic looking place on the outside! Wonder if it's like that on the inside? What state is it located in? Wish I could go there as it had alot of episode memories! 😊

The inside was drastically changed during the period when the mansion was leased to The Newport School for Girls, and then again when it was leased to Salve Regina College. It is in Newport, Rhode Island and has been owned by the Carey family from at least the 1960's. Carey's daughter took over the mansion 10 years or so ago and has been restoring it back to its original plan. There are videos on KZbin showing the interior of the mansion, as well as external and interior shots of the house can be seen in the 2017 film 'The Discovery', starring Robert Redford. Thank you so much for watching and commenting on my video! ~Joey
