@webcastdude2 ай бұрын
Nice! Yes; I find that as long as you don't got over ~85% on gain, you will avoid the high gain noise. I admit that this can be a challenge with an original SM-7B; get the SM-7Bb instead.

Thanks for your review. I'm keen to buy this but I'm a bit worried that the Mac app is Intel still. Last updated 2 years ago, still no native Apple Silicon version?
@webcastdude5 ай бұрын
Hello! I am running the AG Controller app on a Mac M2 Pro using macOS Ventura (w/latest update) and I have never had an issue with the Yamaha app. It works as intended. I know that macOS Sonoma has had some audio driver challenges with other gear (Allen & Heath, some Dante gear), so I would stick with Ventura if you can.
@shakeitoff10004 ай бұрын
@@webcastdude I mean more the architecture issue. Yamaha haven't updated this in nearly 3 years now and it's still on the Intel architecture. One day, Apple will kill Rosetta support and all these apps will stop working unless they are updated to run natively on Apple Silicon. I can't buy this until I'm 100% certain they're going to do this, although most companies made the jump 4 years ago!

Was the audio picking up the Sony camera focus or was that something with the Brio?
@webcastdude6 ай бұрын
That was the Brio. An external mic is recommended :-)

We’re both mic tests done with active noise cancelling enabled? Did you test it with noise cancelling turned off?

Yes; both with noise cancellation on, which is the intended use case. With NC off; the speech intelligibility is significantly decreased, especially in public areas.

The audio on the Engage 50ii was a lot richer and closer to the studio mic.

Flip up boom arms (to mute the mic) are very overrated in my view. It's awkward to do that, especially in a meeting as it sends a clear "I've muted or unmuted" visual signal and is slow and clumsy compared to pressing a hardware or software button.

Hi, I am buying me one this weekend but my friend told me that I need a different mic instead of the BM800 I got with my sound card ( big mistake ). Is this correct or is there some kind of adapter I can get ? Any advice is appreciated ty
@webcastdude8 ай бұрын
Hello! The Yamaha mixer/audio interface will certainly work with the BM800, however the BM800 is a very poor quality mic. Mic selection depends on the intended use and budget. What will you be using the mic for? Zoom? Gaming? Singing? Voiceover recording?
@rescuerocks8 ай бұрын
@@webcastdude Thank you for replying. I want to use it for singing on tiktok.
@webcastdude8 ай бұрын
@@rescuerocks for singing you need a mic with a high SPL. The Shure SM58 is the standard and there are plenty around used for low cost. If you have the $, I highly recommend the new Shure mic designed specially for singers: www.shure.com/en-US/products/microphones/nexadyne8c?variant=NXN8%2FC

Great review, thank you! Question, how is the sound quality of the headphones and speakers outputs? Would it be comparable to a scarlett audio interface for example?
@webcastdude9 ай бұрын
The sound output quality is compatible to the Focusrite Scarlett series of audio interfaces, but the Yamaha has more output options that are easily accessible to your hands. I quite like the separate volume knobs for speakers and headphones; this allows me to keep my in-ear monitors plugged in and ready for Zoom calls 👍

Thanks for your review! A question to this mixer: can I use it for a live stream where people can call in? And more importantly I would need to get some personal information from the callers before I let them into my stream. Is there a privacy switch Yamaha AG03 which makes this possible?
@webcastdude10 ай бұрын
Thanks! While you can integrate a cell phone with this mixer, it does not really support a sub-mix that allows you to moderate phone callers and then push them individually into the live feed.

Engage 50 II is positioned towards intense call use, e.g. contact centers, so is designed to be super lightweight and comfortable for all day wearing. It is also available in a bundle with a control unit that sits on the desk. I have used my Engage 50 connected to my Samsung phone via the USB-C port at an airport gate with announcements all around and the person on the other end said they couldn't tell!

The Bluetooth on the Evolve is designed so you can have your smartphone paired with the headphones while using the wired connection as primary for zoom/teams etc. The headphone has no battery which keeps them light but also explains why you have to have them connected via wire for Bluetooth to function. You shouldn’t use Bluetooth as the primary connection for conference calls as that’s not what it’s designed for and may have led to your sync issues if that was what you were doing? Saying that I’ve used both and prefer the Engage as I like controls on the dongle vs on the headphone itself and also the lighter weight notices after 8 hours. Enjoyed the video thanks.

Thanks for this video! Question: I do a weekly podcast where my cohost is across the country. We use squadcast to link and record (through Chromium browser). I have Mac I'd plug into the USB C of this mixer. What streaming out setting would I use so that she doesn't hear her own voice and get slap back echo? Would that work? Last thing, I also play clips from a completely separate laptop. I could bring that in through channel 2 & 3. Would that send to her and would she hear changes in levels if I bring them down? Appreciate any insight!

I have a groove box/drum pad that outputs to two line-level, 1/4” TS mono cable connectors, for Left and Right channel audio. Could I plug them into the channel 1 (XLR mic/TRS/TS combo) and the channel 2, 1/4” TS (Guitar/Line level) ports and keep that stereo signal since both channel 1 and 2 accept line level, mono TS connectors? I only ask because I may be able to get by with the Yamaha AG03mk2 if the other ports are taken up and I can use them ad the left and right channel outs of my device. ❤ Thank you.

Hello really like the video, as it was really informative. But just wondering do I need a cloud lifter or anything like that if I wanna connect my shure sm7b.
@webcastdude Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes; you need a CloudLifter or similar device with an SM-7B. The SM-7B needs a interface/mixer with over 80 dB of gain, and that is extremely rare in USB interfaces, even the most expensive ones. If you find one with 85 dB of mic gain or more, please let me know!

Glad I could help! I recommend the Deity VO-7U with a foam windsceen if it fits your budget; it is the best USB voice mic that I have tested yet. Whatever mic you get, make sure to keep the mic ~3 inches from your mouth, speaking through the mic pattern (not directly into the mic). A mic arm and risers help make this position comfortable.

first let me say thank you for such a great review. enjoyed watching every minute of it!!! which mic did you use on this setup? from some reason it seems any mic i try to connect to this mixer will force me to put that mic so close to my mouth just for it to pick up my voice... is there any recommended mic that can pick up voice more easily from far away so i can avoid putting my mouth against mic?

hello and thank you for the noise floor demo. self noise was the main issue for my decision to sell ag06mk1 back in the day. seems that nothing has changed unfortunately. does headphone preamp also produce noticeable hiss even with minimum output gain level? a question about input channel mute button - does it send any noticeable clicks, or any other interference into the corresponding input chain? as for the powering - i thought you only need external power in the case of using it with tablet or phone incapable of providing enough juice. at least that was the case with my ag06mk1. power delivery should even benefit with mk2 from switching to usb-c
@webcastdude Жыл бұрын
I do not detect any hiss on the MKII with my Sony MDR-7506 broadcast headphones. The noise floor is present, but I have heard worse from Focusrite devices. You have to balance workflow with device quality and price. I have higher quality interfaces, but they do not offer all the options of this mixer and thus make my daily work more difficult.
