Woah! I was not expecting him to be British! The prose of the book just transports you to poor and dusty Missouri! I’m floored

I've really enjoyed reading "Wintering" with its poetic writing and wonderful lessons drawn from mythology, literature, and the natural world. It's applicable in so many ways right now in my life and I look forward to cozying up with a hot chocolate while reading it in the evenings after work. 💙❄⛄

I preordered "Black Bird Oracle" six months before it was released here in Australia and read it within a few days of its arrival. I am so invested in the series and cannot wait for the next installment, and I understand what Deborah means about the TV series. Before the series I had my own generic idea of everyone's voice but after the TV series whenever I pick up one of the books, I can hear Mathew Goode and Teresa Palmer and the other cast members in my mind reciting the lines.

I am reading your book right now! I grew up in the Lucerne/ Apple Valley area and ended up going to a prestigious university in a big city. So many of your themes are everything I've ever experienced and was never able to put into words. Thank you so much for writing this and telling this story.

I am on chapter 7 of your book. At the edge of my seat. If I didn’t have to stop reading to get ready for work I would get through the whole thing in one day. This book makes me look at Americans as being soooo privileged. The things feminists fight over now, just seems so futile compared to what your grandmother endured. The fact that girls simply lacked the resources to be educated is astounding. Thank you for writing this book. I look forward to reading the rest and adding it to a book I’m going to read to my three daughters. ❤

Tore through Lucy's book in about a week. As she says, it's a completely compulsive read and serves not only as her biography (those emotionally suffocated Belgian parents, Good Lord) but as a terrific history of Manhattan from the early 1970s through through the end of the 1980s. Also has some wonderful insightful writing about San Francisco. It's a brave book about what's required to finally face down and live up to who you are. Bravo.
