Hi Shelley! I think Uber is fairy new here. I have heard there are not many cars available but when there are, they are reportedly very clean and newer vehicles. I will try in the new year!

@Whatarewedoingtoday20216 күн бұрын
@forrestgump5605 I usually pay my bills with cash at the OXXO. There is a small charge for doing this but it's nominal. The water bill and the electric are usually just a paper bill stuck in my door. Yes, I explained the cell phone plan difference in the video and that you can pay much less than I do. It's a personal choice for me because I need the 2 step verification. In my beach, tourist town, with today's prices, which have escalated greatly everywhere in the world in the last few years, my rent is very reasonable given that I have a private pool. Hi Shelley, thanks for sharing another great video. Question: is the meat shop in PM or Playa? Does the collectivo drop off right at Walmart? We want to explore Playa so any advise as to where to get off would be great for a day of exploring too. Looking forward to the budget video next week as we are counting the weeks down till we come back for 2 months in January. My friend just had her teeth cleaned here in Nova Scotia and it cost over $200, so you got a great deal. Hope Miss Penney is feeling better soon. Take care
@Whatarewedoingtoday202119 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching!!! The meat store is in Puerto. It is just west of the plaza at Chedraui where the dentist is. The colectivo does not drop you off at Walmart. It's about a 15 minute walk. Next time I go I will pay a bit more attention to the street we get off at, and then I can give you better directions on how to get there. Yes, the dentist and optometrist charges are so much more economical here. Penny is doing well, she goes for her ultrasound tomorrow so hopefully more information will be coming. January will be here before you know it!!!

At my retirement (on Feb 29 2024), we moved to a different house. Due to many failing knees / hips, we decided to move from a normal 4 bedroom 3 story home to a newer age 2 bedroom + 2nd story loft (aka: reading room) house. Yes. Much smaller size house with no basement but this new house also has an external heated 3 bay workshop. Wife says she needs me "out of her kitchen more often". Funny. Now, I'm even more busier doing mandatory DIY upgrades (like installing 3 windows in my new shop) and making our new home "unique to us". Now, I'm very busy working for me / working for us and "loving it"! As you can tell, I also love being retired. Should have retired 2 years ago - when my Financial Planner told me to retire.... If you can, retire and work on DIY projects you always wanted to do! Works for me.... btw: One does not really retire. They simply work on other things in life.... re: One's bucket list!
@Whatarewedoingtoday2021Ай бұрын
You have got it figured out!!! Doing those things we enjoy is so rewarding. My advice to everyone I talk to is "retire as soon as you can" lol. Thanks for the great comment. Enjoy life to the fullest ❤

Any tax implications with living in Mexico part time (less than 183 days)? Or is it status quo?

There are no tax implications living in México as long as you are not earning any money there. In Ontario, we are allowed to be out of the country for that length of time without it affecting our healthcare coverage when we are back home.

Hi Shelley! I am from Canada and no longer have a Canadian number. My bank emails me verification codes, my credit card accepts my Mexican number, CRA has another system. On occasion when booking flights with WestJet they have a third party verification, my bank bypasses this as long as I book from 8am to 8pm and can call them when I get to the payment verification code. Good luck!

I live in the port/beach side and my neighbours are "locals"...we have the ice cream guy, the gas truck, the fruit & veggie truck, taco stands, tamale, etc. etc. only difference is we have the beach within walking distance which makes it more expensive to rent or buy on this side. La Colonia is just another district of Puerto Morelos and both areas can be enjoyed by tourists and locals. I love visiting and eating in La Colonia and tourists and locals also make their way to port side and enjoy the beach and restaurants especially on weekends. Port/beach side has been considered "touristy" because of the close proximity to the beach and for short term visitors it's definitely an excellent option. We also have an outdoor market every Wed. next to the church where you can buy fresh fruits & vegetables, cheese, breads, other assorted food products and artisan jewelry and crafts. Both sides are unique and have their own vibe. Very informative video! Great job!
