So how much weight can you carry on the 32l +8 ???
@robwasnj2 ай бұрын
I suffered for years with shoes that rubbed my big toe, in fact it got to the point where I'd buy cheaper weaker shoes that would eventually get a hole where my big toe was and then they were more comfortable. When I found out about Altra and other "foot shaped" shoes it was unbelievable how much happier my feet were. Great video with the foot skeleton explaining. I will never go back to shoes that don't fit my foot shape again!

Can you compare the regular tempest/talon with this one? I'd like to buy a 20L one for 1-2 day hiking.
@themountainedge6 ай бұрын
Hi - the main difference is the Velocity's running vest-inspired harness and the storage pockets on the chest straps. Both packs would be ideal for day hiking or short trips where your not carrying camping kit. The best option depends on your personal preference. If you like moving fast and having easy access to snacks/hydration/phone/keys etc while on the move then the Velocity is the better option. If your not too fussed about the closer fit of the vest style harness and the additional chest pockets ideal for 'fastpacking' then the traditional Talon (mens fit)/Tempest (smaller frame/womens fit) is a great light weight but fully featured all-round multi sport pack with similar features.

Hi, thank you for the great review. Do you think the "running vest front" compromises comfort for longer walks?
@craigdonmountainsportsinve98697 ай бұрын
Hi. Thanks for commenting :) I think the harness arrangement on these packs will actually enhance comfort on longer walks. Other than the complexity of the system, which some people might not like, I see very little downside to this arrangement and expect to see more backpacks like this coming onto the market.

I'm about to pop in to Taunton leisure in Exeter to buy a pair of Altberg Tethera boots. I've returned my Mammut Trovat Tour High after 17 months of wear (light use) and leaking. The inner lining sagged and so letting water in. I thought they were good boots up until the leaking. I'll be staying away from nubuck from now on. Back to full grain leather. The Thethera boots seem to be showing very positive reviews. I haven't come across one negative one yet. So, I'm assuming once I've tried them on in store I'll be buying them. I live on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon England so needing some tough boots to deal with the harshness of the moors.

The Nordkapp is indeed a superb boot & afte re-soling & a posh new footbed/insole, it will be good for a good few years yet. I just ordered the new Skipton shoe for summer use, based on alt-berg performance so far. Buy British.

What may be a stupid question....I'm thinking of replacing my Salomon boots for Altberg as I am tabbing in them and I want an all leather boot as the Salomons are not holding up to a bit of wear and tear. I'm a civilian and would wearing the Altberg boot be considered as stolen valour?

By far the best boots for the woods and rocks and streams. I've had them for 3 years and they still look fresh and fashionable, I even wear them around town. I also use them in winter, the only bad thing is that they slide a lot on the ice, but everything else is top notch

Lowe Alpine Aeon 27 vs Deuter Speed Lite 24 vs Gregory Miwok 24? Similar prices and dimensions, but best pick? Thanks a lot.
@Maliq9932 жыл бұрын
Im torn between Lowe Alpine Aeon 27 and Osprey Talon 26... Not very similar prices , Aeon27 is on the discount. However, the color on the discount is the black one and I don't know it looks very plain and boring to me. Osprey has 1 more pocket on the top, stove on the go poles feature, slightly different design. The money I would save on Aeon 27, I could pick up hydration bladder. But Osprey looks more nicer and has the clip in mesh pocket on the front ( at least to me xD)... Tough choice man...

Bigger volume, more features and it is made from 210/420d fabrics (opposed to talon 100/210d)... All in all, I think its an awesome pack and the price is the same.

Hey, what would be your preference over the Rab VR Summit and the Kinetic? They both appear to have the same credentials.

I have both. The vr summit is longer lengthwise, the kinesis is longer on the arms. Kinesis is more windproof and warmer but a bit tight on the chest. Both have excellent hoods, the kinesis outer fabric is tougher compared to rab's.

I have worn my Mammut GTX boots for the last 18 months and average about 3 miles a day and they are excellent. I recently bought the new Duncan version, and all I can say is, nowhere near as comfortable. I take a UK 11 and the middle toe on the right foot is being pinched at the end, something that did not happen on the GTX even though they are the same size. The other things I found annoying are the wrap round toung making it hard to pull the laces up tight. Talking of laces on the Duncan are just pathetic being so thin, trying to pull them up tight will cause the laces to cut into your little fingers. Lastly and the biggest issue for me is the spec of the boot describes the Duncan as being a high boot, but that is just not the case as they are a good inch lower than the GTX boots so giving much less lateral support, and the padding around the ankle is thin. To sum up it feels like Mammut have tried to cost cut on materials. A bit iike the Mars bar used to be one size, now irs half the size for the same amount of money. (Shrinkflation)

These bindings simply don't work. They don't work on the way up and they don't work on the way down. I ski'd on them for 4 days and broke them 3 different ways.
@eastwardExpansion3 жыл бұрын
I’m gonna have to chalk that up to user error. Transitions can be hard if you are new to skinning and most shops have zero clue how to properly set these bindings up. The toe pressure and forward pressure have to be set properly which most do incorrectly.
@leolevesque32693 жыл бұрын
@@eastwardExpansion I've also seen them physically break in multiple different places on many of my friends' set-ups. The material used to make them is frail and the bindings just don't work. I've been skiing all my life and I know how to use and adjust bindings. No other piece of gear I've ever used was as terrible as Shift bindings.
