Removing the foam plugs from the speakers and putting them on rubber feet improves sound clarity. I would also invest in a telescoping aerial which is a big improvement on the supplied t-bar.

Hi, I just bought one recently. However I did notice the CD tray does not eject out fully, only about 80-90%. No problems inserting or removing cd's however. I just thought this was a bit strange. Once I pressed eject, I pulled the tray manually and could see it was able to eject further. Is my unit defective or is this normal for this model?

mine extends fully
@raxk61034 күн бұрын
@mrd64 hmmm. So mine extends enough so a cd can fit and be removed, however it stops with about an inch to go so doesn't fully extend out. Otherwise works perfectly fine.
@mrd644 күн бұрын
@ I've just checked again and the tip of the CD is covered when the tray is open, so I guess that must be standard.

Saludos... Espero que esté muy bien. Gracias por su compartir. Para un corte más eficiente el tallo deve quedar en la cuchilla fija de abajo. Asi se tendría un corte mas rápido y duración de la batería.

A sincere "thank you" for this sound demo! Despite the disadvantages of listening to music over YT, this gives me a good idea of how these components sound! The Aegir is great, but the Tyr is the sound I'm seeking. The Freya is coming across as a fantastic preamp, especially with the tubes engaged. Thank you so much!

I just replaced my threshold amplifier of 25 years with a couple of Tyr's. I could never use the passive mode with my old amplifier however with the tyr's passive mode sounds absolutely wonderful. All three modes are usable now. Tyr's are pretty darn amazing. Got to find this cello track what is that?

Difficult to get good volume matching here, but the Tyr seem to offer a more lively, reference sound, while the Aegirs tend to sound a little vintage- in a good way! Both clear, but the Tyr are my cup of tea here- I get a little more clarity without being brittle, and I can add warmth with the tubes by adding old RCA or a newer larger envelope tube. But I wouldn't say no to the Aegirs, either! Really great gear for the prices.

KHorns are amazing but I've found they appreciate high quality 50-150w/ch Class A or Class A/B solidstate to get the most from them. Especially if you listen at moderately high levels and want enough headroom for loud transients in high dynamic range content. Certainly for dual use home cinema and music playback system it's a must. As much as tube power is endearing and all. Not a fan of this reboot WE amp design and the build quality/finish looks very cheap. High noise floor pre-amps or power amps are also unforgiving on them, lots of hiss with nothing playing. High S/N is a must, 100-105dB or better, as they are ~100dB efficient.

No idea. Seems weird to me. I run a Lyr+ in tube mode (without engaging the high gain function) which connects to my Vidar 2 that powers my KLH Model 5s and the knob is never over 55%, and that's around 80+db. It's probably way louder in that room than the video can reveal?

Excellent comparison! I have a question: the volume knob seems to be at 3/4 of the maximum, but the sound doesn't seem that loud. Could you explain this to me? Thanks!
@cakewalk_katewalk5 ай бұрын
The volume knob being at 3/4 of the maximum can be a bit misleading. The actual loudness of the sound depends on various factors such as the sensitivity of the speakers, the power of the amplifier, and the acoustics of the room. Additionally, during the video recording, I didn't use an external microphone, so the sound wasn't captured as loudly as it was in person. This is why it might seem quieter in the video compared to the actual experience.

Ordinarily it’s impossible to do A/B comparisons between different amps with Freya in the same mode because of the time it takes to switch modes (especially into tube mode) and our brains inability to remember and compare sounds more than a few seconds apart. The advantage here is IF ONE USES THE SLIDER on the video one can juxtapose the track using the same Freya mode on each amp, A/B back-to-back almost instantly. I find Aegir bass a bit “tubby’ here, mids more tube-like, treble darker ie more Class A like, while Tyr bass is less prominent (but also not tubby) ie more Class D like (though it is not Class D). I actually prefer Tyr in active buffer mode here among them all, though I can see why some would prefer Aegir. Tubes used will of course have a big impact on each. It’s always hard to compare staging on a YT video, but it SEEMS that there is a bit more depth in the Tyrs in tube mode- this could just be because of less prominent bass allowing more upper register ‘air’ to come thru. Really helpful idea for amp comparison well done!
@riffraff90005 ай бұрын
@@jlemaster1157 Yes, without precise volume-matching, these comparisons don't really mean much, IMHO.
@jlemaster11575 ай бұрын
@@riffraff9000agree- there certainly was no volume matching attempted between the modes. I am probably over-reading the differences I heard, ie the interpretation of the differences. But I cannot deny that I heard them.
