Does this only work on egr deleted trucks? And can I just grind off the bolt head from the bottom clamp of the downpipe? Bolt seized up to the nut on the back

I got to put a new up pipe in mine today cause EGR blocker plate. I'm going to titanium wrap my down pipe

I just spent most of last night removing mine. Tried to get it off with the heat shield, no way on my truck, even tried pushing it down from above. BUT I did find the heat shield top bolt easier to get to with the down pipe disconnected and moved an inch or so, easy to see, easy to reach from the top. Had to pretty much flatten the top part of the shield to pull it out thru the wheel well, then pull the down pipe out the wheel well too. I loosened the exhaust but it wont move more than about 2" on my truck, but it didn't need to move anyway. My 2014 3500HD LTZ truck seems to have thick fire wall insulation, maybe that was keeping me from removing them together.

Do you still have to the top part of the motor about to get at the clamp on the top of the Down pipe ?
