These reasons are exaggerated. They are a vocal dog breed. They do shed, but it’s not all the time, and there is a smooth coated version for people who don’t want to tackle the rough coat. They are intelligent and loyal, but none of mine have developed separation anxiety. They will not be happy being left alone in the backyard 24/7, but that’s true of all dogs. And they do need exercise, like all dogs, but they are not high energy as this video describes. They have a good off switch, and will be happy snuggling in the couch, after a good walk. I give my collies baths all the time, never an issue. Apartments are fine if you can provide many walks a day.

Airedales get up in the morning asking themselves "How can I please my human today?" They are very loving of their family and need to play (but too rambunctious for small kids) a little with their human to enhance bonding. Do you want to see a depressed 'dale? Leave him alone all day while you're off to work. It's easy to fall in love with their physical beauty and gorgeous personality. However, as stated in this podcast, prey drive and need for exercise are big factors.

You mean like a chow chow? Seems like a miniature version of chow chow. I had a chow/ bearded collie, he was a good boy. Not much of a barker.

1 if you dont live in farm dont get one. 2 they are not indoor animals. they will get aggressive and develop serious personality disorders. they are outdoor animals. 3 they are trainable, but extremely smart. and if they feel you are not dominant enough, they will refuse training. so you need to teach yourself how to be stern, firm and dominant so that you can train the animal. 4 they are extremely loyal. meaning they will need collars to protect others, house guests etc. but they are good with kids. 5 they are good with other animals as in they want other animals in their social circle. they want to lead them in some task and protect them, play with them, socialize with them. basically, if you dont have farm, lots of animals, this dog is not for you.

Totally agree... if you don't have a farm/ranch, no need for a rat terrier. They will thrive in the country, but not a city-dog for condo dwelling

After 2.5 years of destruction, my Anatolian has outgrown his puppy hood and matured. I can now trust him in the home and car without expecting damage. Very loving. Sleeps with his sister, a Cane Corso, and me in a king-sized bed. He and his sister have bonded. Not all doom and gloom.

I've had four and they're wonderful! Only one of mine was a barker. Separation anxiety is real, but again it was only one of my Tibbies. They shouldn't need professional grooming or have noses so short that it causes respiratory problems. Adaptable? Mine moved with me many times and took flights between the US and Europe. Yes, they're independent but that's part of their charm and they're so smart! I'd take another one in a heartbeat.

I don't know if my Shiz Tzu was stubborn or just plain dumb. I suspect the latter. He never did get fully house trained, in fact I think he thought he was supposed to go in the house. We would be out for a walk and I swear he would hold it, then as soon as we came in the door... Luckily the grooming part was easy, he loved being brushed. In fact he quite often would bring his brush to me! Health? Not so much. He ended up with Cushing's and ended up dying at the age of 8, no not a long lived dog.

Im a bully owner. All true. Im lucky in that mine is incredibly sociable and absolutely loves meeting dogs and people. Yet to show any aggression other than guarding the house.

I didn't there was any cons. You are wrong on 2 points. They do shredd, a lot. And they are very calm at home, not high energy indoor. Even on days with only short walks for pee and poop. We have had 2 Border Terriers, 2 German Wirehared Pointers, 3 English Setters, 1 Irish Setter and 3 Gordon Setters. The Border Terriers are far mor calm indoor than any of the other breeds.

You do not OWN Shih Tzu's. They just let you hang out as long as you pamper and feed them.

That’s what happens when you make a designer pooch, the variables of health and attitude issues multiply and leaves a big unknown as to what you’re going to get. Yes there are hienz 57’s and they are in the same boat!

This is unnecessary these “problems” don’t really apply to those who love their pet, if you don’t like dogs then don’t own them
