Fuel fires like that are terrifying. We have to train for them in the Royal Navy on our Basic sea survival course and all you can do is keep throwing AFFF on them to smother the fire and try to stop the spread. Get it wrong and you could lose the ships. Especially with aviation fuel in the hangar during transfer to airframes

Every series had a major ‘shout’ like this one, covering various situations. The year before it was a collapsing fairground wheel. The year after it was a fire in a propane cylinder yard. The staging of these big incidents in the series was always fantastic.

Hallam is always telling Billy to shut up 😂😂 Good thing Bayleaf has been in the Brigade long enough to be able to laugh when he got pranked!
Just watching this episode right now. Love to see behind the scenes. The days they had a lot of money on TV. Now this would be computer generated like the later cost cutting episodes were.

Nick having a laugh at Recall shows he is really still one of the lads at heart!
@BenBanjo8727 күн бұрын
Sadly, it would be a similar situation that cost Sicknote and Joe their lives a few years later. At least Nick had a good reason to take the risk here; but DO Griggs sent the crew back in when no lives were at risk, and got two men killed for no reason.

Thank you for the video. Unfortunately I couldn't come back down for the Farewell Tour because of prior commitments, so it's great to see all these videos! 😉 I'm just curious about a couple of things. I was wondering why you didn't stay on till Bidston and change there instead of Shotton AND Chester? Also, I was wondering why you didn't stay on your train at Lime Street and just get off at Liverpool Central instead of walking there? As I say, totally just out of curiosity. I hope you enjoyed your day! 😊

@@LordSnapcase hi, I got off at lime street to meet a friend off a mainline service, and I changed at Shotton as it got me to Liverpool slightly quicker due to it being a Sunday service, thanks for watching

I liked the way Nick always took over and did the dirty work, when the only effective method contravened regs. The cold store and substation rescues were other good examples of his maverickism.
