This guy was better than elvis, he just wasn't as cute.🤣

His explanation makes complete sense. It wasn’t because he went electric, it’s because it sounded like trash. I mean, fair enough. I’m a Dylan fan and his electric stuff didn’t get good until he refined it with The Band, and The Band was frankly miles ahead in terms of skill when it came to that.

Thank you so much for educating me. I'm 60 and until I saw A Complete Unknown, I had no clue. Thank God I lived to find out. My Grandad raised me and listened to Johnny Cash (I was Beatles, Doors, Stranglers, Jam and Bob etc) but I had no idea of the overlap. Thanks again. I've subscribed as I'm embarrassed about my ignorance and hope to learn more ❤

George Harrison was a huge fan of Perkins and you can hear it all over the early Beatles stuff. Perkins doesn't get the recognition of Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee but he was just as big as they were at the time and he was a little ahead of them on the curve. Of course, nobody did more to expand the world of rock and roll than Little Richard but even he has to tip his hat to the early legwork (literally) that Perkins did.

If anyone's curious, the ditty he's playing at the beginning as he's telling the story (starting at 0:33) is an Andantino by Matteo Carcassi, an Italian classical guitar composer from the early 1800s. I remember playing it in my Suzuki guitar classes when I was eight!

Seeger says Dylan is a great artist and then compares to the faux-indian fraud Buffy Sainte-Marie. Talk about damning with faint praise. Hilarious!

These dirtbags sugar sweetened Socialism. And sympathetic leftists in schools jumped at the chance to indoctrinate children in a heartbeat. Look folks, yes Folk Singers like Pete Seeger were greatly talented people. Beautiful sounding songs. But their intent was warped Socialism that murdered over 100 million people not inclined to dance to their tunes. The likes of Pete Seeger and his other Merry Bsnd of Singers didn’t sing for the arrested entrepreneurs of Cuba or other places were Socialist Leaders were rounding up Common folks whom owned shops & businesses. If Pete Seeger had his choice. Pretty songs aside. He would imprison anyone whom failed to march to the beat of State Socialism.

In my mind, Buddy Holly and Bo Diddley are the two greatest artists of the 50's and transcend all genres (Chuck Berry comes in at #3), while Carl is the greatest "rockabilly" who ever lived! EP never wrote a song in his life and certainly was no guitar player either, but Carl's songs and influence as a guitar player make him the all-time king of "cat music." Now excuse me while this ailurophile puts his cat clothes on! Yow! This was great!
