As a reader of the manga, I can tell that this show is gonna be pretty crazy. The trailer is actually a really good representation of the manga, but I will admit it'll make zero sense to someone who hasn't read it.

Well, you shouldn't blame the western airing issue as the show's flaw, it doesn't make sense at all. Blame company for not bothering airing this show in the first place because they think too little of the show.

Do not skip Houseki no Kuni. It is really good and the manga has sold over 1 million copies and has also nothing to do with Steven Universe (PS the Manga came one year earlier than Steven Universe). I will tell you more about the Story without a spoiler. 😏😏 It's shonen/seinen slice of life that focuses a lot on psychology and philosophy using symbolism(both visualization symbolism(e.g. things that look like it's what's happening from a character's perspective but that it's really just pure visualization of their feels and not reality) and religious symbolism) and with a good amount of very dynamic fights.it's a very good series, but that should be approached more like as Seinen series, the focus is way more on the characters than the plot, and the world building is used more to explain the characters than it is for the plot. The story is very interesting and contains a lot of mysteries. It presents many questions about this world and it's characters. Like, who and what are the moon people? What is the managers goal? Where do these gems come from? and is there anyone else on this world? The focuses of houseki no Kuni is to be very confusing for someone who tries to make sense of it all using real life physics and common sense, it's something very fantasy and imaginative, yet extremely deep when it comes to emotions and thoughts of characters, but also very much linear with the plot and how the various events unfold if you don't try and look into the characters deeply.

Can't wait to see this one as one of my friends enjoys the series and praises it highly. He kinda compares it to Soul Eater so it will be interesting if he is right or not. Personally haven't gotten into the manga as it doesn't stand out to me. :\

Made in Abyss is definetally the most technically beatifull shows of the season,literally almost movie quality with famous talents behind production,artstyle really looks great in motion and the story and worldbulding(because manga is incredible,unique dark fantasy adventure)isn't seen in anime in long years,AOTS by many people and even "critiques",at least try the 1st episode.

Besides the obviously different theme, think of it as a darker version of Madoka Magica.

It's interesting just hope they keep the nudity out of the anime. Not that I see them doing it anyway. And yes nudity xD Horror to some extent too.

Really excited about Made in Abyss,this is one of the most interesting and unique manga in recent years with detailed worldbuilding and artwork,pv also looks amazing,so if studio adapt it properly that will be one of the best shows of summer for sure,i just hope they handle pacing and censorship properly.

Interesting thoughts on a peculiar series. Hope we see a season 2.

So I don't understand is Kyoto saga over and now we have to wait for S3?

I'm only watching one anime from this season. Plus a continuation from the fall anime season.

You know, it's really bad when you can just throw out 5 characters out of 9 and you're left with MC, Boob Girl, Professor's son and Detective Boy. Pacing was bad, the camera was bad and obnoxious, lots of plotholes and unfinished plotlines. Characters are not sympathetic and the story is boring: a shady medical corporation tries to get rich by making people immortal through making them ghosts, they conduct an experiment where 256 people die. That's it!
