You can do this without God. Same ideas and concepts but you can more widely apply it because it includes the understanding that other people have different values and determine what matters to them. Everything comes from an idea within, because if it comes from without you rely on external validation or a group consensus to say "you're right" or to get acceptance from others. In therapy this is a terrible idea because you give you control and agency away every time something is external, and it will cause suffering if not accepted by others. If it was your truth that you internally accept this, it would never happen.
